Lil 59 with a possible problem

I've got a Lil 59 bridge pickup that seems to sometimes sound really thin like it's gone out of phase and if I push on the top of the pickup I can get it to sometimes sound normal. Anyone else have a problem like this? I've checked and re-checked the wiring and found everything ok. I ended up replacing it with another pickup and it's perfectly fine.

Anyone else have this happen? Is it possible that it could be fixed and who could do it?

HI there! I think I know what might be going on here

As you may know the little 59 pickups have a PCB on the bottom with some pretty simple trace that carries the coil start and finish signals from the coils to the solder pads where the lead wire attaches

you can see what I am talking about here

Sometimes if the mounting screws are overtightened or one side is fully tightened while the other is slack the board can flex and it can compromise the solder joints on the corners of the board where the coil starts and finishes connect, it is also possible for the trace connections embedded in the pcb to be broken in this manner

If you purchased this pickup new from a dealer within the year you are covered under warranty, if you are beyond the warranty period we should be able to troubleshoot and there may be a simple repair you can perform yourself if you are so inclined such as replacing the broken trace with a lead wire in its place

Shoot me a pm and we should be able to link up Monday morning when I am back in the office and get this resolved for you

I've had quite a few of these kinds of Seymour Duncan pickups and never had one do this.
