Line6 Flextone.... is it overlooked?

been a few line6 spider threads recently, which is no bad thing, I'm sure it does something for some one, but no one, apart from myself, ever mentions the flextone. In my humble little opinion it's a great amp. Loads of sounds and it sounds like a guitar amp...
See the Spider, with or without valves, sounds too artificial to me. It sounds processed and fizzy, the flextone doesn't.
Now I don't own a flextone, largely down to owning an actual valve amp and being the kind person who likes to have just one great sound... not fifty, but if I needed a reliable little combo I wouldn't turn one down, in fact, with hindsight, I possibly should have got one instead of my Ashdown... then gain I do so like tinkering with it.

Anyone one else have love for the Flextone?

I used to have a Flextone III and thought it was a great amp. I actually run a Pod X3 Live direct into a PA when I play out now, and am very happy. Easy to carry, quick setup and take down, and after spending some time turning knobs I've dialed in some great sounding tones.

Wasn't the first gen Flextone the flagship of the Line 6 product line? I always though that the Spyder was so popular because it's relatively cheap.

general thumbs up for line 6. I record only with line 6, and my main bass amp is line 6 low down 450watt...

great amps. the cleans are great, and the higher gain stuff is great. there's a bunch of amps "in the middle" that are useless and sound super distant, but there's enough good ones to use, and the 300-watt head has plenty of power. the foot switching had a bit of a delay which made it awkward for live use, but if you hit it slightly earlier than you wanted, it worked out ok.

I thought the flextone III was an awesome amp, 150 watts stereo, more power than you could need, tons of amp models, you just have to sit down and figure out how to tweak it. I've had a lot of people hear me play through it and say "wow, I always thought Line 6 sounded like crap". You really have to tweak them, try different cabs, etc.

I've had people say the same about mine.

I use either my Behringer FCB1010 or ART X11 for controlling it.
Never had an issue with a delay in switching patches.

I use my Flex III for band rehearsal and for gigs with small stages.

For me, the big trick with this amp is to get it off the ground, onto an amp stand, and angled up at yourself.

out of all the line 6 stuff i liked the flextone the best, the old ax212 were pretty cool too. the spiders dont do much for me. even seymour uses a flextone sometimes

Must say I think another reason it doesn't get the exposure that the spider does is the looks, it's a bit fake tweed which is not very metal at all

That probably explains why I wasn't impressed, because I am very much an "in the middle" kind of player!

I used to play in a band with a guy who had one of the original Flextone combos and I never heard a sound I liked come out of that amp. Of course, it could have been the way he programmed it. At the time I was playing through a Marshall JTM60 combo and it absolutely slayed the Line6!

(Actually, that JTM60 was a great amp. Douglas, do you still have it? )

I haven't used the Flextones much but my buddy gigs with his regularly and it sounds great.

I loved my VettaII and I had a lot of success with the Duoverb as well.

The Flextone is based off older outdated modeling technology compared to the POD X3, so if you like the Flextone, you'd like the POD X3 tone better anyway.
A lot of people complain about "POD Fizz" but you just dial out a lot of 7KHz and it goes away
