Re: List every amp you've ever owned!

List every amp you've ever owned! :scratchch :approve:

Not just the amps you own now, but every amp you've EVER owned!

Short list:

* Dean Markley 5W guitar amp. First amp to go with my first bass. Beat it to hell. Eventually it burned out and I just chucked it.
* Lab Series L6 100W bass amp. Nice combo, big 15" speaker, did what it needed to for practice against electrics, a little underpowered for bull band practice. Stolen in a burglary in college.
* Peavey Combo 210. My favorite amp, hands down, except when moving it. Pretty much a half-stack (in power and size), the combo alone weighed 80 pounds. Added the extension cabinet, all the bass I ever needed to gig with. Currently somewhere in a church about two churches ago, I need to figure out how to get it back (might have to borrow the minivan from the wife on a day she doesn't need it).
* Fender Bassman 150. My current do-all. Good sound for both guitar and bass, nice power/volume especially for guitar, not too hard to schlep around, and takes pedals pretty well.

Re: List every amp you've ever owned!

This was a challenge as the majority of my gigging life was spent with rack gear. Bass amps and any pedal based amps are not listed. It H=Head

Re: List every amp you've ever owned!

Fender Libra
4x12 , 100 watt, 1970 Solid State!!! Sounds like either (well, both) a wet sponge full of reverb, or a wash of white noise

Silverface Champ
Not too much to say about it that hasn't been said. Louder than the Libra ;)

Jordan Trouper
A dark-sounding solid state oddity made in Pasadena; I remember little of it

Fender Tonemaster
Only ever used the dirt channel, through a Mesa 4x12 . Fantastic amp.

Line 6 Spider 112 50 watt
Ever want to feel like you're using a synth to trigger guitar sounds?

Fender Champ 600
A tiny sounding amp, till you do the tweed mod...

Vox AC4C1-BL
A BRIGHT sounding amp with the cheap tubes; but RFTs tamed it. Awesome

Orange AD5
A VERY BRIGHT sounding Champ clone that an RFT 12AX7 would not tame. Sounds nothing like "Orange."

Orange CR20LDX
The dirt channel was like hearing two guitars at once; a fuzz pedal and your clean tone at the same time, with a very poor blend. Really lol. (But the cleans were nice.)

Re: List every amp you've ever owned!

First amp I ever owned was a piece of **** 'Zephyr' brand practice amp with the worst distortion imaginable and a 6" speaker but I bought it because it was included with my first electric guitar seeing as no-one would buy it for me (Nathan) and I was 13 years old at the time.

Next was a Fender J.A.M. It was very interesting. It didn't have a gain knob, it had four switches with different levels of gain. Bright and Full on the clean side, Crunch and Lead on the overdrive side. I normally ran a Korg AX10G in the FX return as the built in distortion wasn't my favourite but I did use them time to time. I was still to really appreciate good tone.

First tube amp, Crate V30. Now we're talking. This was actually a really nice amp. It ran two EL84s and while it didn't have lots of gain, it had a nice Marshally character to it and sounded great pushed with an overdrive. I still have the Tone Tubby speaker that came with it as it was switched out before I sold it. I played a couple of shows with it and decided I needed something more powerful.

Fenders. I owned one Fender Twin silverface from the 70s with vintage Fender speakers. It had the most magnificent cleans I've ever heard. I still have the other Fender 'The Twin' from the 80s. It's a very interesting amp. While not as brilliant as the silverface, the cleans are unmistakably Fender and better than the cleans on any other amp I've heard. The overdrive once you dial it in and run it through a good cabinet is actually quite awesome. With a graphic in the FX loop, it can pass for one of those early Mesas.

My first halfstack and a staple of my live rig for 3 years was the Randall RH200G2. The cabinet was loaded with Celestion Seventy-80s but sounded amazing with everything I ran through it. The Randall had everything. Volume, tight gain, extreme flexibility with the tone controls. Being solid state, it never let me down ever but I eventually sold it as it was taking up space and had to make room for the next two. At around the same time, I scored a fuzzy carpet covered RG100 which cops the Pantera sound exactly with an EQ and a boost but I tend to not want to cop the exact Pantera sound.

Mesa Dual Rectifier 2ch. I'd been gasing for one of these for a while after I saw a few different bands (both local and international) use them live and while no two sounded the same, they had a familiar hugeness to them that I really liked. It more than lived up to the hype and has remained one of my main recording and live amps for the last 6 years. At the same time, I got a Marshall JVM with a fetching white 4x12. It's still one of my favourite modern hi-gain amps. While not as huge as the Mesa, it's tight, clear, has a sweet sounding midrange especially through V30s and sounds amazing in tandem with the Mesa.

I have a few others such as the Johnson Loredo 25. It's just a little 10" speaker (Celestion tube 10 to be specific) low wattage EL84v tube amp which I can crank to high heaven for interesting lead, blues, garage rock and other sounds. My Dad bought me a Crate Powerblock for my 17th birthday with the awesome extension cab they made for them back then which had a Celestion GK100. I sold that cabinet with the Crate tube amp and I wish I hadn't have because those cabinets are impossible to find nowadays. I take the powerblock with me every show, if it's not local I'll still bring it with my carry-on because it's indispensable as a backup in the event of an amp problem.

The most recent rig I've put together as an ADA MP-1 with an ADA Microtube 200watt power amp. The power amp sounds really nice to run just about any preamp or preamp pedal into (it's my understanding it was designed to run preamps in the studio), has plenty of volume and a sweet, real tube driven presence circuit. The only other item of mention is the Digitech RP1000. An ex guitarist of my band gave it to me. While it's not the most state-of-the-art modeler, makes up for it with the 4 cable hookup method which lets you run a good amp or preamp along with having a loop for your stompboxes and you can set them up on patches to switch in and out.

Re: List every amp you've ever owned!

Lessee :

Crappy Crate 10w practice amp - I have no idea what happened to it.
Carvin X-60 combo - caught fire after multiple 'professional' attempts to fix the headphone jack
Fender '69 Bassman 50 head - bought for $50, sold for $200, and really, really wish I hadn't (SF looks, BF circuit)
Ampeg 44c - tube preamp, solid state power amp, 2 8" speakers, and chorus...
Tech21 Trademark10 - still have it, beginning to show it's age with a few pops and thuds
SWR Workingman 2004 - In storage, with Avatar 1x15 cab, with tweeter
Kustom 35w bass combo - great little practice amp
Crate Vintage Club 112 18w - tweaked tube complement, and replaced the speaker with a Hellatone 30, and swapped the reverb tank for an Accutronics longpan - a world of difference.

Currently contemplating either an Egnater Tweaker 15, or a Mesa Express 5:25 head - either with a 112 cab

The TradeMark10 had something in it pop, and I lost all of my trebles...

I have to add both an Egnater Tweaker 15 112 halfstack, and a Genz-Benz El Diablo 60, on top of a FlexWave 212 cab.

The Egnater is nice, but the GB is a *beast*.
