List for me a bunch of custom guitar builders

Re: List for me a bunch of custom guitar builders

Christian told me about Ed Roman Guitars. When I get up the money and after a Les Paul, I'm surely buying one from him. 100% custom.

Re: List for me a bunch of custom guitar builders

Driskill, Melancon, Cris Mirabella, Jerry Auerswald, Nik Huber, Andy Schack, J/C will build anything you can dream up, Blueline of course, Ed Roman isn´t my favorite but he´s world class,.....

Not too versed on us Luthiers, sorry. Auerswald, Huber, Schack are already Germans ;)

*Edit* OOUCH, forgot Wayne Charvel and Neal Moser, of course ;)

Re: List for me a bunch of custom guitar builders

Eventually I want to have just a les paul junior clone made, but of all limba, with the korina finish. And a single dog ear SD P-90 and a wraparound bridge. Basically exactly like the Hamer special that Evan got but in single cutaway. Does nayone know if I could get that made by a luthier and around how much it would cost. Expensive wood,ya, but about as simple a build as possible.right?

Re: List for me a bunch of custom guitar builders

Yeah I love the tabor as well, but I beleive that it and the Phil Keggy model are both custom now- But would be worth dropping them a note to confirm and most of what I have seen recently is custom anyway-

They moved from greensboro here to Raleigh and I finally got to the factory about a month ago- They have never been very big, but they are ramping up quite a bit becuase they have gone back to primarily a dealer model-

But the quality is unbleivable- Stacks of wood, neck blanks and first coats of paint just sitting there- Makes you want to move in, or sweep floors, or anything-

They have always evolved in what I see as the 'right' direction- Ken Hoover was thinking out of the box and got the rep of the only one who could set up a floyd in NC in the early 80s:) I called him in the mid 90s and described the strat sound I was lookign for, he told me to come visit in 2 weeks and he had 3 different strats in the racks that were variations of the same theme, and the swamp ash joe barden with 3 coil spin a split was exaclty what I needed and still my favorite axe of all time-

I don't take it out anymore, but always loved the look on kids who would come up and ask how I was getting that sound and what in the world is a ZION:)

David Hussong is a great guy in the ohio area. Personall friend of Tom Murphy, who ages guitars for gibson. He re-did an explorer that just blew my mind away. I would say hes a pretty good luither
