List What You Feel Are The Most Consistent Guitar String Brand

Over the years I have tryed probably all of the main brands of guitar strings...I was a GHS Boomer user for several years and my guitar tech at that time said D Addario XLs were consistent. They were and still are also inexpensive compared to other brands....I'd say these have been my go to strings for almost 20 years...Lately I've been using the EB Pure Nickel Slinkys and loving them..They seem to have less string tension and they are slightly warmer to my ears on my strats and Teles compared to the D Addarios..

Anyway....My current list would be like this and in no order..

D Addario XL .010
EB Pure Nickel .010(yellow pack)
DR Pure Blues .010
DR Tite Fit(Least favorite)
GHS Nickel Rockers .010
GHS Boomers .010
Pyramid .010(These are excellent strings)

Would like to try the Snake Oil Brand and I also have some GHS Burnished that I need to try...

D'Addario and Ernie Balls are always pretty consistent for me...I prefer the EB's but in a pinch I'll use the D'Addario if for no other reason than I know they are solid and will be the sane from set to set.

FWIW, the least consistent IMHO are DR Pure Blues...intonation issues, some feel great others not so much and that doesn't work for me...

Only other strings I'm really interested in these days are the GHS Burnished Nickel...

Elixir for me. It's pretty much all I play. If I'm in a bind, or feeling cheap, EB gets the call.

I too have had issues with the DR Pure Blues..They aren't currently my favorite..Pyramids on my SG were superb!

D'addario, in my opinion. EBs are consistent too, in that they consistently sound totally dead right out of the packet.

I have never seen any inconsistent results when using Dean Markleys.

honestly, i've used d'addario as long as i can remember. i think maybe the first few sets of strings i ever had were EB, but there's just no way to compare that. I've been considering switching to GHS or EB to give them fair comparison.

See I don't have that issue with either brand? I also am lucky in that I don't have to change strings often...i'm always wiping my strings down alot and I use one of those string cleaners that you slide up and down the strings..Cleans and removes skin and acid..

I Liked the DMs...Memory tells me they were easier to bend also?

I grew up listening to Pure Nickel strings and I Know EB was involved in that process...So these EB Pure Nickel Rock N Roll strings sound really nice on my strats and Teles...Warm,full tone..Not harsh,brash,and too bright...Easier on fret wear also.

I never had a problem with DR and I've been using them for a long time. Pure Blues - I got custom 13 sets and they sound fantastic!

However, the string that I continue to be the most impressed with is Thomastiks. They're expensive, but when you put em on, you know you are dealing with some real quality. I have the George Benson signature flatwound 14s on my archtop and they're incredible. Expensive as sin but still unbelievable strings.

I heard Snake Oil was TERRIBLE at filling out orders (I considered them when I got custom sets) and bad service all around. Not shipping strings for months (if I get strings, it's usually urgent haha!) I heard they sound great though so who knows....

Read a recent post where they resolved the shipping issues? Mixed reviews about the strings,but most are positive.I've read they are thinner and easier to bend..Guys using .011s to get the feel of .010s etc.

I used the D'Addario for about twenty years before I started using the Ernie Ball pure nickel hybrid 9 sets about eleven years ago. I used the Gibson Ace Frehley set (another hybrid) for awhile and I loved them. Not because Ace was on the package, although that was cool (still have a bunch of them I'm saving), but because I thought they sounded great. I started out using 8s, and moved up to 9s somewhere around the late 80s. Honestly, I always liked the consistency for both brands, especially the D'Addarios.
