Little 59 wiring problem, no sound after soldering

Hi,

Strat configuration : lil 59 neck, fender texas special middle, lil 59 bridge,
5 way switch , 1x push/push pot, 2x tone pots

"I would like to have a push/pull pot in my Fender strat, and I'm wondering how should I solder wires from 2 lil59 pickups to only one push/pull pot. So that I will have :
Push/pull up - all 2 lil 59 pickups (bridge,neck) are singlecoils
Push/pull down -all 2 lil 59 pickups (bridge, neck) are humbuckers
Don't forget that apart from that I have a Fender pickup in the middle."

Something went wrong after soldering. When I plug my guitar to amp there is no sound, only noise. :(

What should be done to solve that problem :)

Please help :)

Re: Little 59 wiring problem, no sound after soldering

The diagram is correct.

There are only a few things in your pics that I would question:

1. no pic of the output jack. Did you reverse the wires attached to the jack? Are you sure the white wire is going to the tip and the black (ground) wire to the sleeve?

2. I can't tell if there is a good solder joint on the white input wire to the vol pot. Might be good to resolder that connection.

3. The solder on the backs of the pots is very balled up, doesn't look like the metal got hot enough to make the solder flow like water. Might be a good idea to reheat those connections until you can get the solder to flow thin (sand or scrape the metal first to clean off any oxidation or manufacturing residue so the solder will "stick" better).

4. Recheck every connection that they are soldered adequately and to check that no wires are shorted to anything they are not supposed to touch.

Otherwise, it all looks correct.

Agreed with Doc, you wired it correctly, but I'm concerned too about the connections you made. Practice some soldering first, it looks easier than it is in reality. If you are soldering old connections or already pre-tinned factory stuff, always use a tiny bit of fresh solder too. Preheat your elements for a couple of seconds, then add solder. And always keep your tip shiny with solder.

Re: Little 59 wiring problem, no sound after soldering

I suppose it wasn't a problem with connections. Thanks to user Grenade I 've reversed the green and black wires on both of the Seymour Duncans so that black goes to ground - possibly :) and green to 5 way switch. I have already set only one string and plugged guitar into my amp. The guitar sounds pretty normal, but I wonder if there is a possibility that guitar sounds but there is a phase issue and what is the phase issue ? Because it is heard that sometimes pickups are out of phase I can't figure out what it means. Can anyone explain me that ,please ?

According to GuitarDoc and constant mesh posts (that It was wired correctly) how to check if all pickups work properly now - (after reversion green & black etc.) ?
