little amp head suggestion

Hi
I am in the need to get a new amp. For training at home and for small gigs. I am thinking of a little head but really don't know which one. Tubes or solid state? Which one has a resonable quality/cost ratio? I play mainly hard rock and metal and at the moment my main axe is a Gibson les paul with A4 modded 59 and a custom8 followed by a schecter KM-6 mk I. In between the guitar and the amp only a boss chorus and a GT-OD. Which one is suitable for my purpose?
Any suggestion?

Hard Rock/Metal makes me think Marshall/Randall. Both have reasonably priced mini heads. But honestly there are so many others out there that could do the trick too. Start playing man.

Personally I’m in the “clean” camp. Pedals do the rest.

I recently ordered a Joyo Beckman, which has yet to get here. It's based off the JCM800 and is a ss/tube hybrid. The preamp is a tube and the rest is solid state. It comes with two channels, Bluetooth, and an effects loop.

How big are the gigs? How big are the spaces and the audiences? Do you think you’ll ever need to slug it out without PA?

Do you ever practice with headphones? Do you need to keep the volume down at home?

At home I need to keep the volume down and almost the totality of time I practice with headphones ( and I am really tired of that). The clubs where we play are small. Very little space for the band and 30 maximum 50 people as audience.

Never heard about them. I had the last 15 minutes checking these tiny amps on youtube. Great sound. But I think I will prefer the zombie or the vivo over the jackman

I’d suggest looking at the smaller Blackstar series.
I have an HT-Studio 20 andnit sounds killer. Great for rock/hard rock. You might need a pedal for the metal realm, depending on the type of tone you’re after. It will do the 80’s metal but might not hit a modern metal tone without a little help.
Obviously it doesn’t have the thump of a 50 or 100 watter but if you mic your amp you’re golden.
Even unmiced it’s loud enough to get over a heavy handed drummer.

I hear the tube is the weak link in the unit, but the cool thing is it's fairly easy to change. Just unscrew the cover and swap the tubes, no biasing or even looking at your amps innards.

6505 Mini head or Laney IRT Studio would be the two I would look at personally, or a Mesa Boogie mini head if there was more money available. That new PRS Mark Tremonti head looks good though.

I have an engl ironball and it’s great for metal, not sure about hard rock as that’s not my style but there’s a few demos online, not crazy expensive, made in the fatherland and has switchable wattage.

Get a 5F2H, SE KT66 amp. BIG TUBE right there. (Needs small mod for guitar use - original design for those crazy harp players)

Yep own a little JCA 22H Custom head myself. Great little amp that does a really nice clean with some "hair" that will get narley when you dig in then really clean up well when you roll back the volume or lighten your touch. The high gain tones are blistering + has one of the better pedal friendly effects loops I have used. Best bang for the $ I have found in a small head. It's what i normally hit when I'm here at the house and need to run through a song at low volume but make no mistake this thing will get LOUD!

Was playing the little PRS Sonzera 30 watt combo a few days back. That rig would be a killer in a head and runs 6L6"s!

It's worth noting Blackstars have this fuzzy, bit hazy quality in distortion, especially ht-5 at least. I guess it has something to do with the built-in overdrive circuitry in them.
