Okay, let's play. One of my favorite things about a Telecaster is also one of the things I don't like about Stratocasters. Can you guess what it is? Hint, I may have a bad pot...
Great guesses, and all are true; but not quite what I am looking for.
One thing I like about Teles: I can lift the control plate and deal with any wiring problem easily.
On a Strat, I have to remove the strings and the pickguard. I have a volume pot that when you go from 0 to 10, it cuts out then comes back at almost full blast.
When I did this latest Strat I did Neck Tone + Bridge Tone (and nothing on mid) thanks to Lew's suggestion, I like it! It really retains the bright positions 2 & 4, and also allows a bit of restraint on the bridge when it needs a little taming...
Standard tele has metal plate under knobs that sometimes looks out of place. Standard strats rarely come without whammy bar so no fixed bridge and tuning remains shaky. Nothing that can't be fixed. Still my two favorite guitars!
I don't have to deal with a tone control for the bridge pickup. It's a humbucker and because the volume pot is 250k, I don't really need the tone control.
