could i have a regular nut and locking tuners instead of a locking bridge and regular tuners with a floyde rose? would it still feal the same?

Re: locking tuners for floyde

Yes, you can do that. In my opinion, the locking nut will provide more tuning stability with a floating floyd type bridge, but again, thats just my opinion. I prefer locking tuners and graptech nuts with strat type 2 points and vintage trems.

Re: locking tuners for floyde

im definatly not gonna have it floating. im gonna have it tight as possible to the body with five springs and all the tightness i can get. will it respond the same do you think?

Re: locking tuners for floyde

It will work, its nice to have the locking tuners anyway.

Just to make sure: The FLoyd Rose IS the locking Bridge. If you remove it you no longer have a Floyd.

Like others I assume you mean the locking nut, and Yes, with a properly cut nut it will wrk just fine, although not quite as stable as with the Locking nut and the strings will feel a bit "spongier".

The tone will change as well, because the strings can now once again cause the headstock to vibrate ;)

But with 5 springs it will NOT feel the same as with 3, it will feel much tighter and (depending on how you set it up /your string guage) possibly be too hard for you to "whammy" at all. Sometimes less is more  ..

Re: locking tuners for floyde

i am rarely gonna use it but when i do all i am gonna use it for is like a dive bomb in the middle of a song. is there a point behind five springs? why couldnt i just adjust the claw really tight?
