Locking tuners for Squier Affinity

Hi
I like to install locking tuners on my Squier Affinity. It has CY18.... serial number which I believe is crafted in China, 2018. It is not because of tuning issues that I want to put locking tuners. I guess it is because changing strings is easier. I hate all the winding that I have to deal with.

The Affinity stock tuners look like those Fender tuners without of course the F symbol. So I am hoping I can just drop them without having to do any drilling to incease the hole size. I looked at the Squier/Fender website but nothing is mentioned about the size of the holes or the thickness of the headstock.

I am mainly concerned about the different length i.e 3 long and 3 short as the Affinity tuners are all of the same length, I would appreciate if anyone could give me some feedback if I those Fender tuners would fit Affinity headstock and especially the shorter ones.

Re: Locking tuners for Squier Affinity

If you get staggered tuners
Put the shorter ones on the smaller strings

As far as drop in replacement
The Fenders have the pins with a slightly different spacing
They will cover the holes and no one will know but you
Still some folks are uncomfortable with the extra holes

Carvin/keisel brand are drop in for the Affinity and Ibanez guitars
I know I have used them on my Ibanez and they match my squire

There are less expensive locking machines that require an external screw
There again the holes may not cover the

The fender branded ones are $47 on Amazon
The Carvins are 59 on their site
On Aliexpress I have found the $25 KD brand works nice
I got the other two pin style from Aliexpress , I have installed those yet

Re: Locking tuners for Squier Affinity

I have a Squier Affinity Strat that I put locking tuners on called Planet Waves Auto-Trim tuners but I had to drill the holes on the head-stock a bit larger. After locking the strings and you tune the guitar up it has built in cutters that cut off the excess string. It sure was worth it though.

Re: Locking tuners for Squier Affinity

Gotoh-style tuners (small round, one diagonal screwhole)? Schaller Fender style (big rectangular body, no screws on back)? Or trapezoidal?

Depemding which squier it is, you might need a reamer & drill bit (regardless of what people say, you actually need BOTH to get it right) to enlarge holes (mainly an issue for the nasty nasty trapezoids) to fit most lockers
