I had locking Fender/Schallers on my USA Std Strat....I loved them. I definately think they help with tuning stability, plus they make string changes a breeze. I highly recommend them. Combine them with a graphite nut and you are in business.
The Fender/Schallers should be drop in replacements on your Hwy1, and have the same footprint. If you use annother brand, you may have to drill new holes.

I would buy them in a heartbeat!!!! I would reccomend schaller but, the other brands are great also. Every strat I ever owned I changed over to locking keys and a LSR nut. You cant beat that combo.

I installed locking Sperzals on my Strat and along with the LSR nut that guitar never goes out of tune. On any guitar the nut is often far critical than the tuners for tuning stability and non-trem guitars really don't need the locking tuners. Often a good slotting job on the nut is all that is needed for stability.
The Sperzals bolt right up to MIA Strats and the main installation hole does not need to be opened up to install them. There is one small locator hole/set pin hole that needs to be drilled with the Sperzals but thats really easy to do.

I think all guitars should have locking tuners as standard gear. They make changing strings very fast and the increased tuning stability is also a big PLUS. MrHM :smokin:
