I dunno man...
I've worked with a WHOLE bunch o' cats that use nothing but dynamic mics for vocals in the studio.
Henry Rollins cuts all of his stuff with an SM58 in his hand an wedges on the floor, just like a live show. Anthony Kedias from the Chilli Peppers uses an SM7 all the time because he likes to get physical with the mic.
It's all about the performance. Get the performer to relax and erase the "red-light" fever anyway you can...even at the expense of "sound quality".
Nobody walks down the street humming a microphone.
