Looking at getting another guitar..

Re: Looking at getting another guitar..

Alright, I went there and played it.. I absolutely love it! It does feel quite a bit different from my main guitar currently, but it's still awesome! The owner said that we can put it on layaway for as long as needed, so we did. I know it was probably a stupid idea, and I know most of you didn't think I should have but I just loved how it played and urgh..

EDIT: Someone there said something about the Pickups having Coil tapping?

Re: Looking at getting another guitar..

You phrased the "coil tapping" part as a question, so I'm guessing that you want to know what it means...

Simple answer: a humbucker is basically two single coils run together in series. A coil tap (or coil split... same thing) shuts off one coil of the humbucker, essentially turning it into a single coil. It's a thinner sound than the pickup normally sounds like and is usually triggered with a push/pull pot or a mini-toggle.

On the other hand, if you weren't wondering what it means, just consider my answer to be a gratuitous, unwelcome sharing of knowledge from a guy who's more than twice your age (maybe even pushing 3 times), roll your eyes, and move on! :smack:

While we're on un-solicited advice... I read all your previous posts and those of our fellow members. I agree that you probably would have done better to work on your technique for a while, figure out what works best for you and the direction you want to go, and then start getting guitars. That being said, since you're obviously already going down this road, just make sure you make it worth it! Keep playing and keep loving to play!

Edit: I just noticed your actual age... I'm definitely over 3 times!

Exactly what I meant it as. And thanks!

As for me getting it, yeah, I guess it might not have been the best idea but now we brought my sister there and absolutely loves it. She plays mine from time to time and she wanted to get one for herself, so I've decided to just help her a bit to get it. This way I spend less than half as much and still get to use it mostly whenever! (I hope!)
