Looking for a neck pickup

Re: Looking for a neck pickup

I got 59's in my LP great pups can recommend them in a heartbeat esp the neck with the tone rolled off

Re: Looking for a neck pickup

I agree with a lot of the neck pickup recommendations people are offering.... but not if he is going to keep that 500t in the bridge. You'd need something like the Super 2 to keep up with that.

Re: Looking for a neck pickup

For the kind of music you're playing the 500T/496R set isn't a particularly good choice. Those are ceramic hard rock/metal PU's.

For the most part my rhythm playing is more within the rock spectrum than that of blues. The blues vide is found more exclusively in lead work

I looked into the dimarzio but there is too much treble for my liking

Re: Looking for a neck pickup

Depends on the wood and how warm you like your neck PU's. For Gibson-design guitars, Phat CatN's can be pretty warm and rounded, too warm for me with the stock magnets (and I'm a blues/classic rock player).

If I had to keep one of those PU's, I'd put the 496R in the bridge and an A2P or '59 in the neck. But my first choice would be to sell the stock PU's and put in a set of PAF's, like A2P's or '59's.

True but I would say it depends on any guitar...I've never played 2 Les Pauls that sounded identical....and all Gibson Les Pauls I've played sounded warmer in the neck ;)

Re: Looking for a neck pickup

I'd go Alnico 2.

Alnico 2 Pro neck....maybe a Seth Lover n or Antiquity n or PGn.

The Antiquity might be the smoothest of those four.

Re: Looking for a neck pickup

So ive had an A2Pn in it for a couple weeks now and am quite happy with it. Exactly as advertised.

That's awesome to hear. The A2Pn is a great pickup. It's a really cool thing when you put in a pickup.... whatever kind it is, and you go, yeah.... that's what I was looking for. I hope you keep rocking it.
