low resale!!!!!

Re: low resale!!!!!

lmao.. and thanks for making me realize how uninformed I am when it comes to locking trems.. and just out of curiosity.. are there any other non-locking trems besides Bigsby's that go down AND up in pitch?
Yep, the gold ole Fender Strat trem. If it's set up to, it can go down and up in pitch. The up range won't be as much as a Bigsby, but it will go up.

Re: low resale!!!!!

Heritage guitars take a hit pretty hard on resale. Nice guitar btw.

Nice axes, agreed.

But I always see them in Guitar Sinner marked up just as high as the Gibson equivalents, which kind of makes me laugh. More than once I've seen a used one priced over what you would pay new.

Re: low resale!!!!!

Don't forget Warmoth. :D I pitty those guy who buy the stuff new and end up selling later on.

I bought all the parts to buld this guitar (barely) used and will probably end up having spent just over $500 when it's completed.

I've been known to say that you don't "buy" a Warmoth as much as you marry one because if you end up parting ways the hit financially is more accurately described.

I love the guys that come up with the crazy ideas for guitars that they've never tried and then proceed to throw all sorts of money at Warmoth creating them only to find out they sound like total ass and then proceed to take a vicious beating on the re-sale.

...all the while folks are saying "find a way to play something like it first otherwise you're going to take a bath on it!!!!"

Hell...I've been playing for 2/3 of my life and am still jittery about doing a Warmoth build.

Re: low resale!!!!!

When doing a Warmoth build, if you go with the time tested and proven wood combinations you pretty much going to end up with a solid guitar that will play and sound great. If you go for some weird wood or a combo that very rarely is done, then it can be a crapshoot.

For me, I tend to stick with what works already. I already know when I go down the Tele road again I'll build one with an ash body and maple/maple neck.

big_black, when are you going to finish that thing? Looks like it just needs the electronics now.

I got a pickguard over the weekend, but it's a Guitar Fetish guard so it dosen't fit exactly. It does not line up with the binding. :blackeye: I bought it used with the plastic still on for $6, so what do you expect...

I'm waiting on the input jack to come in right now. I think I will wire it with a volume tone and a bridge pickup for now. It's a shame to cover up that top with a guard.

Shoot, leave the clear guard on it. That looks really sharp. The grain is just incredible. If you have a black single coil over, just shove in the neck pickup cavity for now, if it'll fit.

A GC had a Heritage LP at like $500 a few months ago.

Would have bought it just to resell it, but it sounded so bad I would have felt guilty giving it to some poor unexpecting schmo...
