Ever investigate which pots were in yours? Gibson used 300K pots in all of their '70s and early '80s guitars regardless of pickup - they're perfect for the mini humbuckers used in the Deluxe, but not so much for the humbuckers in the Standards and Customs.

I think they had 100k tone pots or something like that too

I've had early 70's,late 70's,80's.90's.2000's and Historic Les Paul's.
The early 70's Gibsons are superb guitars,not heavy,great tone,build and feel.
They were made in the same factory(Kalamazoo),by the same workers with the same materials as the last Gibson's,
There is so much misinformation on the web.
Try one they ,You might love it.

Or, another option is to see if you can find a Heritage LP. Kalamazoo made "Gibson" by the factory workers who didn't move to Nashville with the rest of Gibson back in the day
