ltd vs esp

Re: ltd vs esp

That's a bit generous to the LTDs.

Not necessarily. Keep in mind I'm talking about the higher end korean LTD guitars...

The Eclipse has upgraded parts, better build/manufactured process and better choice of woods.

The Ec1000 - is no slouch at all. Comes stock with what you need. Solid quality.

That's why I liken it to Gibson Les Paul. The Studio model is fantastic (for price, playability and components) much like the EC1000. If I had the money, I would love to UPGRADE to a better build, quality, parts in a LP Custom (hell even a higher end standard).

ECLIPSE:

22 extra-jumbo frets
Chrome hardware
Gotoh Magnum locking tuners
Gotoh Tune-o-matic-style bridge with stopbar tailpiece
2 volume and 2 tone controls with 3-way switching
White binding on body, neck, and headstock

EC-1000

Re: ltd vs esp

All of the LTD Deluxes I've played (the ones made in Korea) have been really good instruments. Felt good, sounded good, build quality seemed good but I'd have to inspect them to really find out. I'm sure regular Japanese made ESPs are better, but the question is how much and is it worth it to you. The only real way to know is to try to play both and then make the determination.

Re: ltd vs esp

Worth the drive, IMO. You cannot just buy something blind and expect it to be to your liking.

Maybe it's the isolation, but I'm willing (and have no real other choice) to drive 16 hours (Nearest city) to test out guitars that I want. And will be doing this later this month.

Re: ltd vs esp

16 hours?! in that time I can go from here (amsterdam) to paris or london, maybe even Milan, Berlin or Munchen.

Re: ltd vs esp

there are a few misinformed people in this thread.

lower end LTD's are on par with squier. some are good. some are poop. most are acceptable.

mid-high end LTD's are consistently great. on par with elite epiphones and gibson studios.

japanese ESPs are on par(better) than most gibsons.

it's a shame they put EMG's in so many guitars, but it looks like they're starting to offer more passives and blackouts. also they're making guitars in more than 1 or 2 colors now, which always pissed me off about them.

I LOVE the new 1000t/ctm! fat body like a real LP. Big tone, bigger frets than most gibbies which I like. If it didnt have emgs and had a regular 4 knob setup, Id be happier...

Re: ltd vs esp

The new Gus G EC is pretty damn awesome for the money if you can get past the graphics. I've sold 3 of them this year and all 3 where damn good out of the box and even better with new strings and minimal setup.

Re: ltd vs esp

a couple of years ago, I had one of the Gus G star shaped ones (ec 600?) and it was a KILLER guitar! Only complaint was it has some neck dive, but not too bad. Had a duncan 59/dist combo. I composed my best lead ever on that guitar. I wish they still made them with the Floyd. Id be tempted...
