Magnet Qs

Can anyone ID this bar magnet by eye? I pulled it out of a cheap humbucker. Is it ceramic and is it the typical size?
Wanna do a magnet swap on my TB11 to make a Custom

Ceramics are typically black or really dark grey looking. That one looks pretty thick. The ceramic out of my Custom is 2.5" x 0.5" x 0.125"

Blurry pics, small screen, old eyes... but it looks to me like the kind of double thick ceramic usually mounted in cheap humbuckers. If you want to be sure, set a multimeter to measure resistance and put a probe on each end of the magnet: it should measure no DCR / infinite DCR if the bar is made of ceramic, since it's not a conductive materials. :-)

Good idea never thought of that.
Now if I try that double think ceramic( if indeed it is ceramic) in my TB11 will it work pretty close to a normal ceramic to make a Custom?

No. Thicker magnets will have a different resulting sound. There are posts on here about the differences; just search for those conversations.

What beaubrummels said.

The difference of thickness should have less influence on the tone with ceramic than with AlNi(Co) for questions of inductivity but double thick bars often give a stronger magnetic field.
