Making a Floyd Rose not Float

?????????? What´s with all this height changing, neck reshiimming and such? Am I losing My mind??? :smack:

I don't know about others, but on mine if you just tighten the springs like these guys are talking, the bridge will sit at a bad angle and not balanced very well on the knife edges (mines floating in a routed cavity) and probably damage the knife edges in the process.

In order to fix the angle, you need to screw the bridge posts down so the bridge sits level in the bottom of the route, which lowers the action to the point of bottoming out the springs.

In order to fix the action, you need to adjust the neck angle until it lines up with the bridge again.

All of this may, or may not, neccessitate the need to adjust the intonation.

OR - like both you and I suggested, you could just stick a block of wood in there. :)

I assume you already know all this Zerb, but I'm just trying to help this guy in the event he's using a Floyd in a route, because if it is, some of the advice given above (to just tighten the claw down) - although well intentioned - is bad advice.
