Making a Gibson SG sound HUGE!

Re: Making a Gibson SG sound HUGE!

I tried both the Custom and the Custom 5 in the bridge of my SG. First I tried the Custom but it was not for me. I like a slightly more classic tone so I swapped the mag for an A5 and it's been in my SG ever since.

Re: Making a Gibson SG sound HUGE!

I replaced the JB in my Gibson V with a 500T and thought it was a huge improvement. I don't know why the 500T doesn't seem to get much internets credit among Gibson pickups (probably because too many end up putting them in LPs, which don't NEED the 500T to sound huge). The Duncan Distortion is a bit too high output for some (including LPs in my opinion), but the 500T is nicely medium-hot without being overbearing and thicker than Dirty Fingers. The 500T should suit the SG well if you want to stick with Gibson pickups.
