Maple or Rosewood for metal - Suggestions Please

Ok people, I have a show on Friday May 13th
Friday the 13th ~ Yay!

I will be using my H/H Alder Bodied Fender Strat with a Seymour Duncan '59 in the neck position, and not 100% sure on bridge humbucker yet.
My question is do you reccomend me use the standard Rosewood fretboard fender neck I have, or the Maple fretboard neck with the Fender LSR nut.

The advantage of the maple fretboard neck is the LSR nut will help it stay in tune better, but I'm just trying to get the most Unholy, Death, Black, Hardcore Metal tone I can get.

~~~~
Also, If anyone is willing to trade a Tremspaced JB, Tremspaced DD, Dimebucker, or Invader for (2) Gibson Humbuckers ('57 classic and 500T) Please, please PM me as I would like to have the best tone possible for this show, and I feel that any of the (4) humbuckers I listed would do it for me.
I would vote for maple, but I think it's really a personal preference issue.
You definitely have to have something unholy for a gig on Fri 13. Let us know what neck and pup you end up using and how the show goes.
You're very right about a matter of personal perefence... I guess I'm just seeing what other people's personal preferance might be.
I'll be sure to let ya know how the show goes, what neck and humbuckers I use.
Re: Maple or Rosewood for metal - Suggestions Please
All my guitars have rosewood, and if possible I'd like to keep it that way.
Re: Maple or Rosewood for metal - Suggestions Please
It's all about what sounds best to you. I love the feel of ebony and rosewood, but there's a clarity about maple fretboards that is not to be denied. I go with what my ears tell me at that moment.
yep its all about taste and preferences...
i like a warm tone so i use rosewood but if some told and swears to me that maple is the way to go it would gave it a try....
Wow zombie thread, lol
It seriously doesn't matter! You put in a high output pickup like the JB, turn up the gain on your amp, and it's all the same! Well, almost the same. I have quite a few amazing metal guitars and some have maple, some have rosewood. Maple has a slightly clearer but flatter sound for rhythm, rosewood has a bit more mid punch for solos it seems, but that's VERY subtle, you won't notice that very much if you're jamming with a drummer.
Re: Maple or Rosewood for metal - Suggestions Please
it does not matter but
if Sambora and Clapton used maple
it was for nothing yes
not it warmth vs brightness
the boost was there to add the lack of warm tones
but i read some fretboard are better for harmonics
that's why it's very hard to choose
my heroes have maple fretboard
but my guitar has rosewood
the sh4 is not a bright sound but a dark tone which has crazy harmonics that's all
so no it's not the same at all
i notice all: i play the drums, bass, guitar
next lol
This thread is 12 years old? Why revive this?
Re: Maple or Rosewood for metal - Suggestions Please
I choose based on feel and asthetic, enough other factors exist to negate the fingerboard wood type on tone.
Re: Maple or Rosewood for metal - Suggestions Please
Rosewood for heavy metal sabbath
Maple for neoclassical malmsteen stuff.
If you try and mix the two your guitar will explode.
Re: Maple or Rosewood for metal - Suggestions Please
I prefer the tone that rosewood brings the most,,,,,and prefer the feel and look of ebony.
Don't know why but I've never really wanted a maple board,,,,,even when the rest is all maple.
I also vote for Maple, again I think it's mostly a personal preference? To my ears Maple boards have a little more bite. Of course I'm that guy in the bar playing a dropped tuned Tele through a Hot Rod Deluxe iii and a half dozen dirt boxes?
Re: Maple or Rosewood for metal - Suggestions Please
Maple looks classier to me. I also like that it's not typically used on heavy metal guitars (at least the metal that I play) so it looks different on stage. It could also be said that the brighter tone will cut through just a bit better.
