Marshall Amps - Handwired Series

Re: Marshall Amps - Handwired Series

SPAM...

So are we supposed to be impressed and excited by a 71 LB, 2x12, $4000 combo amp? That thing is bigger than Chris George!

Re: Marshall Amps - Handwired Series

Honestly, I don't consider this spam because their name is "marshallampsuk" - they don't purport to be an unbiased reporter pumping up the amps.

It's like, how many people here go gaga over vintage marshalls? How many threads to we have about Marshall clones or modded marshall-type amps? DIY JCM800s and the like? How many people lose their mind when the smaller guitar manufacturers post on here? I know there's one guy who makes awesome explorer-type guitars and nobody bats an eye when he posts threads with just straight pron of his builds.

I mean, I'm fine with it. I'm not going to click the link, but hey, as long as they're up front about their motives, it doesn't bug me.

Re: Marshall Amps - Handwired Series

It's good to see the company keeping Jim Marshall's legacy alive with the original designs.
I dig the 2245THW head.

Good Marshalls have never been cheap, but it's never stopped me from chasing them down.

Re: Marshall Amps - Handwired Series

Perhaps the mods could help Marshall out by giving them an appropriately placed underscore . . .

It's weird to see MashallAmpSuk posting good information about Marshall products.

Re: Marshall Amps - Handwired Series

We have no problem with Marshall posting here.

How about "Welcome" instead? :)

All they do is post advertisements. They never respond to customer comments or interact with the forum. As far as I'm concerned, it's SPAM. I'm not going to kiss their asses.

Nobody's asking you to. A bit of civility would be nice...

Re: Marshall Amps - Handwired Series

I like Marshall spam. As a matter of fact, I need to look into getting a yearly catalog mailed to me.
Do they still produce issues of Marshall Law magazine? I used to grab those at music stores.

Re: Marshall Amps - Handwired Series

I have always been totally underwhelmed by companies whose original products have evolved into cheaply-made, mass-produced junk versions of their former selves, and then those companies expect lavish praise (and massive dollars) when they 're-issue' the original versions, made the way they were ... the versions on which all their reptation was built.

Marshall has built rubbish for almost 40 years, and they certainly won't be getting praise from me for doing what they should have been doing during all that time ... making a decent product that they built their reputation on. This applies to many or most companies from 'back in the day' in my opinion.

To me, the hype about returning to their roots is not something they should be crowing about ... in fact they should rather be cringing for the fact that they've been peddling rubbish versions of their original products for the previous few decades.

Re: Marshall Amps - Handwired Series

I'm going on a tangent here. When Marshall reissued the Plexi, it wasn't based on a real older 68/ 69 Plexi, but they actually chose as the basis for that "Plexi " copy, the model that I own; a 1973 Superlead. Its an iconic ,seminal amp. Thats really cool.

Plexis are like PAFs. They are all slightly different. If they re-issue a plexi which one should they re-issue?

Early 70's metal fronts are pretty much the same as the last 69 plexi fronts.

Re: Marshall Amps - Handwired Series

Marshall is only relevant for historic reasons. Everyone else makes better Marshalls than Marshall does. Now that Marshall prices are as high or higher than the boutique guys who make them better, it doesn't make sense to choose a Marshall over any of them.

I am fine with the JCM800 I made...

I suspect they've already done their share of that. But then what are they supposed to do? Apologize to their stock holders for all the profits made during their global expansion into every geographical and vertical market? Because no other amp company has ever gotten big before.
