Everyone has their own experience of Marshall. Like or loathe the name and brand, however, it's impossible to deny the company has stood the test of time.
They're still here for a reason.

i have tried many many amps and my old marshall jcm 800 was, by far, my favorite. marshalls are amazing amps. it provided me the best sound. for example, when cranked or at low volumes i could hear every single note chime through clearly when playing a bar chord. it also roared when cranked with an agression i've never been able to duplicate on any other amp.
every other amp make has been disappointing. too muddy. too much mid. not enough clarity. not enough oomph. just not right.
i considered getting a bugera since they are less expensive marshall knock-offs with, reportedly, better components. but why mess with something that is already just right.

I have a JCM 900 Dual Reverb I got for about $550 or so
its the real deal! not much money
has a 1/2 power switch too so not super loud to deliver the goods. you have to play LOUD to get marshall sound.
very middy amp, not much bass at all even with bass dimed, very noisy amp...IT IS A MARSHALL WITH MARSHALL CHARACTER

Everyone I know who hates Marshall amps have only tried MG15s. Those amps did a lot of damage to their reputation around where I am.

If you only play in your bedroom, save your money.
But you will understand the love for Marshall amps the first time you ever get to crank one onstage under hot lights, playing to a packed house that wants to rock. And that third and forth set, when the amp REALLY starts getting hot--well son, that's about as good as rock and roll ever gets.

Back in the day thats all you had. fender or Marshall. So When you have guys like Betts , Allman, Hendrix, Gibbons, Van halen, Angus Young using them , they were bound to become lengendary.
Even amoung the legions of amps made today , they are still very valid , becuase thats what the other amps are trying to base their tones on.

It's remarkable how many new (and newer) amp makers claim to offer players a choice between "American" and "British" tones. Those words are code, and it's well understood what's meant by them.

JTM45 with a pair of blue's on top and 55hz greenbacks on the bottom. Cranked. Telecaster/Jazzmaster, maybe a fuzz with a little chorus/reverb/flang/delay. Lovely.

While they do sound good cranked, I really like the low intensity input on mine ('79 JMP MK II Master Vol). It's got less gain and output than the high intensity channel and sounds good at lower volumes as a result.
They are bright sounding amps in a lot of cases.
If you want pushed pre-amp to not sound stifled, you need to get it to rehearsal level volumes at least.
PS My experience is playing through Greenbacks, your setup could give you different experience

Depends on which Marshall you mean.
The old hand wired ones......totally worthy.
The PCB JMPs and 800s.....construction suffered, but still worthy (most, well, after I mod them!)
The 900s......not worthy.
The 2000s.....kinda.
The newer ones: Sound ok, but horrible, horrible construction. Full of SMCs and other junk that has no place in a tube amp. If it breaks, forgettaboutit, its a disposable lighter. Like a computer motherboard full of SMCs, you replace the board or chuck it.
But all in all, it is the sound of rock and roll and has been for near 50 years.
