Marshall cab deal?

Re: Marshall cab deal?

Just went and bought it. 399 plus tax. I don't get my amp back from the store for a few days so I'll have to wait and see if these greenbacks are for me. If not, sell it for a gain and get something more my style.

Now i just need to figure out what to do with my old cab

Re: Marshall cab deal?

Excellent find, I hope it works out for you 'coz those cabs are great and look coolIMO.

Re: Marshall cab deal?

i noticed that Marshall recommends using an attenuator if just one 1960AX cab is used to drive a 100watt head. Are the greenbacks really that delicate? i do like to drive it wide open...

That's the case with a plexi, but with most master volume 100 watt heads 4 GB's are okay as long as you don't dime the volumes.

I'd pull the back plate on any used cab and make sure of the speakers, along with the wiring and connections are correct.

Re: Marshall cab deal?

that's a great find and some really nice speakers in there. I have a 2x12 Marshall cab that I love with 2 Greenbacks and I've always been happy with how it plays.

I guess depending on the type of head you run through it will have a lot to do with how it sounds but these speaker can do every thing from vintage blues to EVH without a problem (but I'm fairly sure EVH used a few tricks to get his tone with those speakers)
