Marshall Jcm800 2204

PUCKBOY99

Irish Flagologist
I went to the grocery store today & saw an ad on the bulletin board for a Marshall JCM800mkII Lead & a Marshall JCM800 4x12 for $700.00

Of course I called the guy & it was still available. Went over to see it/play it...aside from the tolex being pretty rough all around, it sounded fantastic.
I tried to get him to part with just the head, but he wouldn't budge....so I told him I'd get back to him on Friday (my next day off).

So...........worth it? Lemme hear all the pros & cons.

Off the bat, it's a lot more amp than I NEED....I can always sell the Celestion loaded 4x12 & play thru my 2x12.....Also, it's single channel...

I did like that the master volume and preamp was separate....I assume that's so you can soak the tubes & play at a decent volume...TRUE???

Anyway....lemme know what you WISE MEN think???!!!

Thanks!

Re: Marshall Jcm800 2204

Yes it's a cool amp for dirty rock. That sounds like a decent price too. I just sold one like that for $600 plus shipping.
I have a bunch of tunes that I did with mine here
EDIT: I sold just the head for that price. It was a vertical input type, which seems to be worth a little more than the horizontal input units.

This amp sounds like a pretty good deal from here.

The Head AND cab, all for $ 700 ???? GRAB IT !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Re: Marshall Jcm800 2204

If you don't buy it....give me the guys number and I'll buy it. Thats a great deal. As long as the head is in good shape other than some tolex tears and same with the cab.....it's a steal. You can re-cover the head and cab in new tolex for around $100-$150 if you did the work yourself.

Re: Marshall Jcm800 2204

yeah, basically i will reiterate what everbody else said. even if you decide in a month or so that you dont like it, you could gain money from this....

Re: Marshall Jcm800 2204

YA' BUNCH OF CRACKHEADS!!!! :) :13:

I knew the answers I'd get out of you guys before I hit the "POST" key ! :laugh2:

I'm gonna call the guy this morning & if it's still there...IT'S MINE!!!!muhahahahah :naughty: :nana:

I forgot to ask: Is there a way to tell what year this is???

i think there is a way, it has something to do with the input i think. i think! also, the serial number could do it, if there is one.

VERBAL COMMITTMENT HAS BEEN MADE!!! :beerchug: :bigthumb:

The folks at Tech21 aren't gonna be happy with me & these tube amps!!!! :)

Re: Marshall Jcm800 2204

I agree...sounds like a screamin' good deal. But they are LOUD! Unusably loud for 99% of the playing situations most of us find ourselves in. Lew

Yeah Lew....it was pretty screamin' on 1 with the preamp maxed. Backed off on the preamp & the cleans were decent at a decent level.

If I like it enough to keep, I'll probably either mod it to include a power level switch or get an attenuator.......

If I don't like it or it's just too much, I'll probably just clean it up, fix up the tolex & sell/trade it for something else.

I'VE ALWAYS WANTED TO BE A "GEARJONESER" !!!!! :)

Re: Marshall Jcm800 2204

On my amp, the original inspection sticker was still inside with a handwritten date on it. If not the serial # link will do the trick. Nice score....don't keep us waiting too long.

Re: Marshall Jcm800 2204

Like jeff said, mine also had the original sticker but some of us are not that lucky.
