Marshall JMP/Plexi 50w reissue

Hi. Just bought one of these--should have it in a few days.

Would like to get the thoughts, and reviews etc of any who own one.

Back in the early/mid 70`s I owned a brand new one--it was either made in `73 or `74 and it was awesome so i`m hoping that this one will sound similar.

And everytime I see an thread titled 'Gear You Regret Selling' I remember that great Marshall amp and the regret I will always have for trading/'downsizing' for a 'Music Man' combo. The biggest 'gear selling regret' of my life! Traded it because it needed to LOUD to sound it`s best and I stopped gigging--blah blah blah!

So needless-to-say, I`m excited about owning a reissue model.

Thanks to all who read this and for your thoughts and reviews etc.

Re: Marshall JMP/Plexi 50w reissue

You should really like it. The specs are closer to the early 70's amp more than a 68 plexi. I found the bright cap a little too much for me. In addition to making the bright ch rather bright it makes the vol knob behave kind of like an on/off switch, unless they have changed the spec since the last time around. Putting in a smaller value cap, or just clipping it, is no problem though.

The 50 watt is a great plexi. It has more gain than the 45 and it's more managable than a 100. You can also tweak it with bias and cap values ...ect....too. It's a lot of fun, that one. If your into the Allman Bros at all, it's a must have.

These amps are a bit picky about speakers though.

Today they have some good attenuators available too.
