ErikH said:Get the SL-X. I have the 2100 model that was out before the SL-X. It just has one less preamp tube than the SL-X has. Since that sucker has EL34's, get it. Those are the good ones. I've had a tech look at mine and tell me it's a very well built amp. Tube sockets are hardwired (good thing). When they switched to 5881's, that's when they started to sound like crap. I'm guessing it's about a 1993-early 1994 model since it has EL34's. $500.00???? THAT'S IT???? Drop your money and run with the amp before the dude changes his mind.
+1, except I do think the boost on the clean was great for Marshall tones. It's definitely an amp you have to like, cuz if you don't it isn't for you. I for one didn't like it all that much.fenderiarhs said:I own a dc5 combo.........it is a very nice amp with very fenderish cleans and that classic boogie lead tone (think mark series, not the rectifiers tone). On the other hand it does NOT excel at getting a marshall tone........so if you are after a marshall sound then go with the marshall. Otherwise i would prefer the boogie.
