The Tele-Gib is a JB (w/ Alnico 2 magnet) in the bridge and a Jazz in the neck. As for the Esquire, not sure. Could be anything but whatever it is, he most likely wound it himself.![]()
is a JB w/A2 ~ an APII bridge?
Are there any vids of Seymour playing? I've seen the still pics, but I've never actually heard him.
Funny, to me, a JB with an A2 isn't significantly different. There is still a ton of output, and that still overtakes the sound. It is *a little* warmer, but not a ton. The magnet swap doesn't seem to have as much of an impact as it does on lower output pickups, like a Jazz.
Is the Esquire he's playing the guitar that we had built for him at UGD 05' Jeremy? I've always wondered how much he plays it, if he does at all. It was a damn nice guitar with top quality parts and I know you put it all together. I still remember how nice Warmoth was to donate the body and neck. I still buy from them because of that.
I have an old JB with 12 screws and an alnico II mag. You can still tell it's a JB, but the mid range spike is shifted down somewhat and the split tone is a little friendlier. It also has a little less bass under high gain to my ears.
It is interesting to me, because Beck is so identified with a Strat during my lifetime, that I can't imagine a modern Beck playing any guitar without a whammy bar.
I was told that it would get me close. In other words, a Holdsworth pickup.
Same for me. Though I have seen videos of him playing the Ox Blood Les Paul, it's the Strat that I am most familiar with. If there's a signature model I'd take home today given the choice, it would be a Beck model in Surf Green.

probably something close to that but you never know if he wound something different to try. ive played that guitar before, very cool. as for the esquire, its probably similar to the bridge pup in this set which is fantastic!
