Metal guys, what is your current setup?

Re: Metal guys, what is your current setup?

The setup I use at the moment for fun (meaning in my basement) is a Line 6 Vetta topping a H&K triamp cab loaded with Celestion G12H80s, usually on the Mesa Boogie with a little reverb, a 77 Marshall 50 watt with a Crate Blue Voodo 4x12 w/G12H30s & V 30s. Effects are a Danelectro PB&J delay, vintage MXR stereo chorus and modded TS9. I use both outputs of the chorus, one to each amp and set it more to thicken the sound than to chorus. Gets a GREAT wide metal tone without killing the "oomph" the way most choruses do. Gotta replace the pb&j. Good delay but not what I'm looking for. Guitar is usually my Jackson DK-2 with a JB or SG with a brobucker.

Now--I'm not in a band at the moment and if I were, I certainly wouldn't be carting around two half stacks, lol. I usually just use my Vox AD60VTX for jamming as the room we play in is really small and all cement block.

Re: Metal guys, what is your current setup?

Fender Strat (Pearly gates) > Crybaby Wah > EH Phase > EH Metal Muff > EH Reverb > Fender Blues Jr.

Re: Metal guys, what is your current setup?

A line6 HD147 halfstack it's got it all
EMG HORIZON NT II with duncan blackouts instead of usual jb/59.
That's all the evil I need.

Re: Metal guys, what is your current setup?

This usually gets the job done :)

Cool. A time machine.

Re: Metal guys, what is your current setup?

Schecter C-1 Classic (JB/'59) --> Vox V847 and Boss NS-2 --> Peavey Triple XXX head and Ear Candy BuzzBomb 2x12

The Vox wah I only use once in awhile, and sometimes I switch it for the Dunlop CFH. I love my Peavey head, I'm so glad I got into the world of tubes.

Re: Metal guys, what is your current setup?

I like to keep it simple. I plug into my crybaby which then goes straight to the amp. I need to get an od for boosting leads and get off my arse and put my reverb in the chain.

Agile LP ZW emg tuned to drop c with 12s into my orange rocker 30. That gets the job done, sounds f'in beefy gets the job done for the real heavy stuff i.e. grindcore or anything over the top

Epi LP custom with jb in the bridge gets it done for mellower stuff and some classic rock when I don't feel like tearing peoples heads off.

Re: Metal guys, what is your current setup?

Duncan bridge buckers in the neck for soulful, yet metal solo tone

This WILL be my set-up as of Labor Day this year:

My current set-up is the same as above minus the a/b/y and the Bogner, but not for much longer.... :D :D :D

Re: Metal guys, what is your current setup?

Well ... the tones I am into ..

rythm: Nightwish, Angra, Laney TI100 Tony Iommi tone, Rammstein, everything from Accept's Metal Heart/Balls to the Wall, Late Stratovarious, EdGuy, Motley Crue Shout at the Devil, George Lynch, everything from Back for the Attack/Beast from the East, Zakk Wylde No more Tears, Criss Oliva.

Leads:
Uli Roth, Uli Roth Scorpions years, everything from George Lynch Back for the Attack/Beast from the East, everything from Accept's Metal Heart/Balls to the Wall, YJM, Richie Blackmore, Adrian Smith from Wasted Years, Chriss Oliva.

Its my sig plus Ibanez CS-9 re-issue and Webber Mass Lite(Even when I crank it up) I use JJs ECC83s High Gains with a Gold pin in V2. My future add ons to make the rig complete is either ISP Decimator or Boss NS-2(because of its internal loop) A tech21 new reverb pedal and prabobly V30s at least two of the for starters in my 4X12 and MXR MicroAmp in the loop for the lead boosts, my Spina TS9 is always on. I plug my Lonestar Strat with Invader in the bridge and stock single coils into high sensitivity jack. I am loving my tone now, I am very close to what I've described above as my preferences for Lead/Rythm.

Re: Metal guys, what is your current setup?

Fat Strat or Dean V --> Genz Benz ElDiablo 60

Although that may work when I'm playing with others, I'm noticing that I have to crank it to "way too loud" before it'll give me the crunch and fluid harmonics I like. So when I'm alone my preferred setup is:

Fat Strat --> Boss ME-50 w/ "Natural OD" selected and cranked --> Fender Stage 160 clean channel. Mmmm...liquid leads and fat chunka, chunka!

Re: Metal guys, what is your current setup?

axe -> line 6 flextone I -> carvin legacy 4-12

....same as it ever was.

I see you finalized your rig, that's f-in sweet. Both of those amps are spooge worthy. You must get some clips up when you get the rig up and running.

Re: Metal guys, what is your current setup?

If it doesn't erase my mind the moment I play a riff through it, I will post my findings here. :)

Re: Metal guys, what is your current setup?

Currently it is

Charvel 375 -> pedals -> ENGL Screamer.

But that amp will be replaced by something Marshall or a 5150 1 soon.

Re: Metal guys, what is your current setup?

Guitars: Ibanez RGs a Blazer and a PL, Telecaster w/ EMGs, Kramer Classic III, Strat s w/ various Duncans and/or DiMarzios and a Performance -->

Zoom Tri-Metal --> Marshall DriveMaster --> Morley Bad Horsie --> Samson VHF-TD Wireless --> Line6 Ax2 --> Peavey Classic 50/50 --> (2) 4x12 and (1) 1x18

I don't use the Zoom or the Marshall much, and I primarily use the JCM800 model on the AX2 with the RAT OD box model.

Re: Metal guys, what is your current setup?

My rig at the end of august will hopefully be:

Guitars:
Pseudo-Kramer with JB/Jazz
Gibson LP Firebrand with Brass Knuckle Cold Sweats

Pedalboard:
Keeley Modded Rat
MXR Phase 90
Boss DC-2 Dimension C chorus
Boss DD-20 Digital Delay
No-name midi board to control amplifier

Amp:
2 x ADA MP-1
Marshall 9100
Hughes & Kettner stereo cab with G12H30s

I'll add on some more rack gear in some time, but for now this works fine.
