Mesa Boogie MKIII head 1 or 2 4x12s, a Robin Raider with WCR Iron Mans in it or a Custom built Mockingbird, and a Crybaby wah.
I play hardcore/crossover/thrash/punk/grindcore...

Heck, through your main guitar in there too...

Ex:
Gibson Explorer -> TS -> Marshall 2203 (Glam metal)
Schecter C-1 -> Dual Rectifier (Direct) (Post-Metal)
Strat with Hot Rails -> Metal Muff -> Blues Jr. (Power Metal)

There are so many interesting ways to get what is still described as a "metal" tone, what's your approach?

I am by no means a metal fan,but i do play metal like "stuff" (think Soulfly) every now and again !

For that, i use mostly these :

Epi Zakk Wylde LP -->MXR ZW44 OD --> EHX Metal Muff --> Blues Jr. into an old 70's 2x12 w. unknown Phillips speakers :14:
I am thinking of getting a set of BlackOuts for the ZW Epi !


Does this count as a metal set-up ???

Definitely!! A Metal Muff into a Blues Jr. is a great Metal rig, and very versatile!

. . . and that extra low-end that the 2x12 delivers work real well, to get rid of that small amp feel !
