alright, so I'm looking inside my barclay (via f-hole) and i see metal(?) covered wire. i'm wondering what tonal effectsit has; especially vs. braided cloth wire.

Re: Metal wire vs braided wire

Tonal effect? Absolutely none.

But It does have One benifit. Braided metal wire is normally used Over another wire that is actually carrying signal, The braid is Shield, and soldered to ground. So It'll cut down on some of the background noise, RF interferance, and a little hum.
Down side is If the guitar is wired baddly (i.e. the shield isn't grounded, or wired with lots of ground loops), it'll actually Amplify those things.

Re: Metal wire vs braided wire

It's the old school way of doing that. You might find that the wire inside the braid has cloth insulation, as well. Again, no tonal differences.... just old vs. new.
