Re: Mids

I voted middle of the road, but that's not the real story, I think it really depends on what you are doing at the moment ... I do like a pretty rich and warm sound, and I do like mids especially clean as it brings out the character and complexity of the instrument ... i guess I like as much mids as possible clean without it sounding *boosted*, distorted, that's a different story though, sometimes I like a mid heavy tone, and sometimes scooped, and sometimes balanced ... it really just depends.

Re: Mids

Somewhere between middle of the road and crank 'em, depending on my mood or who I'm playing with :)

Re: Mids

I crank 'em...about 3/4 up on most of my amps. I think guys tend to use to much bass when what they really need is less bass and more mids. Lew

That's pretty much how I am as well.

Re: Mids

Depends on your amp, mine has way too much so I scoop 'em, but I like to crank 'em when playing with other people. Not too much though, Boogies pack too much mids as it is :smack:

Re: Mids

I generally like 'em cranked but I'll sometimes scoop 'em a bit when running clean to get a bit more clarity.

Re: Mids

I use the middle third, anywhere from 4-8, on my Peavey classic, and that has been the case with all amps I've possessed.

Re: Mids

i put them on 5 on my hot rod, given it goes to 12

so i voted middle of the road, cuz it's closer to being the middle than it is to being scooped, of course, scooped is kind of a subjective term

Re: Mids

I crank 'em. It sounds so full and crunchy with cranked mids. Too brittle treble and flabby bass without them cranked.

Re: Mids

I usually set my mids from anywhere from 2 - 4 o'clock, so I like my mids. Things sound so much thicker and sweeter with mids. It really makes an amp stand out in a live setting, the treble and bass can't carry the amp very far by themselves.

Re: Mids

Seems like high mid settings are popular here, glad to see it. I still remember when I first started playing and would have the bass, treble, and gain cranked with ZERO mids. Ah, moronic youth ;).
