Rich....There has been alot on this topic lately....Do a search buddy...I can tell you this much...The V30 has more mids...The G12H-30 is smoother and doesn't have the mids grind and isn't what some people call "harsh" like a V30,though I don't find V30s harsh? The G12 also has nice strong lows and basically it's a different overall eq I hear between the 2....Alot of people love this combination,but remember one speaker is rated for 60 watts and the other only 30..

I use that combo in a 4X12 and I'm planning on getting an Earcandy 2X12 and do the same thing. Either speaker paired with itself is a very sweet combo but together I feel they cover the whole end of the spectrum--at least for me they do. I have a Crate Blue Voodoo 60 amp that sounded usable with the Crate speakers, great with Eminence Legend V12s and vintage with the V30/G12H30 mix. Just remember that in a 2X12 it would only be a 60 watt cabinet.

I think the G12H30 has a thicker, fatter, warmer tone with a little more breakup than the V30. And that the V30 has less mids and bass and a slightly louder and clearer tone than the G12H30. So blended together they are a perfect compliment. The G12H30 adds a fat thick tone to that of the V30 and the V30 seems to add clarity, definition and a certain plucky but brighter prescence to the warmer thicker tone of the G12H30.
John said that he thought the V30 had more mids than the G12H30...I don't quite describe it that way, so we might be hearing the same thing but describing it in a slightly differant way.

I had this combo for a long time, and ended up ditching the V30 because 1) I just liked the G12H30 better, and 2) Having both speakers in the same cab makes micing up one of them very difficult if you're playing live because it makes it hard to tell what sound you're getting out of just one of the speakers, because the other speaker is contributing a different sound. It's very convenient and nice for recording though.

Lew....I'd have to go with your description simply because I've never actually played through the G12H-30....I was going more by reading other people's posts,but I see I'm wrong with the mids....:smack:

the g12h is basically a greenback with a heavier magnet (h for heavy).
my 2x12 has a v30/g12h combo and i love it. i havent ever heard anything that made me want to change it, except maybe two old alnico blues with an ac15 but they are too expensive and a 15w speaker is too easy to blow.
the g12h/v30 combo is thick loud and punchy and can do almost anything

I like the Greenbacks better than most stock speakers, but the Celestions I like best are the V30 and G12H30. I think the Vintage 30 has plenty of bass but it seems to me that the G12h30 has more bass and fuller tone...at least in an open back combo amp cabinet. However, the Vintage 30's in my Matchless amps that have been tweaked by Matchless are very deep and full sounding....even deeper and fuller sounding than the G12H30's I have. Lew

Check out the G12k. I put 2 in my Earcandy cab and like them so far. I wrote to Celestion and told them that I liked the sound of my G12ts in my Marshall 4x12 and wanted to keep that voicing with tighter bass and a little more mids. They told me that this was the speaker to get because it had a tighter bottom and that lended to the mids to give them a bigger sound(if that makes sense). Anyway, I like them alot so far. These are the speakers that Marshall is putting in their Mode 4 Cabs.

Hello Mike...Those look like the 100 watters that came stock in my Fender Cyber Twin? I'll have to look at the speakers and see,but they do sound really great in the CT amp if they are the same speakers?

Mike.....Yep....Love these speakers! I've been using this amp and these speakers since 2001.It says alot about them that I've not swapped them out for anything else!

Doing great up here Bud! If you kept them in there them I KNOW they're good! To me they have a clear but punchy sound. I'd love to hear them in a 4x12! They don't break up like the lower wattage speakers but they transfer a processed sound cleanly. Still loving my Spina Drive!

Glad you like the Sparkle Drive Mike....I just did another one the other day and loved it all over again...I'd like to have one for myself,but I Keep buying other things and don't get around to it..
Yes.....I agree about the Celestions...Clear and punchy....Fender must have tryed all soughts of speakers with their first version Cyber Twin and probably found these speakers worked great...The amp is based around Fender amps and I'm guessing these speakers remain clear,clean,and articulate,with strong lows and smooth highs...The speakers remain tight and focused in the larger depth open back cabinet,but it's these speakers and the 65 Twin type BF tones that I Like with these speakers mostly...I always base my clean tones around the BF Fender series....I know there are better clean tones,but these are my favorite and they are tones I've been using and listening to for alot of years...

Actually, now that I'm @ home and your pics came up, those are different than the ones I have. Mine are the G12Ks. I don't know what the difference is but it can't be much since we both agree on the sound and we know that tone and sound is'nt objective right!(especially when it's coming from the two of us(Sarcsm)! I'll have to look around for the specs on the G12t-100 that you have.
