Modern Player Tele w/P-Rails and Area T&61 Pups

Hi all,

Just received a Fender Modern Player Plus Tele. I am not happy with the tone of the current pickups which sound flat to me. I am an intermediate player. I like classic rock: Stones, Clapton, Allman's and the Dead. The versatility of a SD bridge P-Rails really appeals to me. I was thinking of matching this with DiMarzio Area T in the neck and Area 61 for middle positions. With an on/on/on mini toggle and push pull tone pot I can access all 4 P-Rail combinations (series, parallel, Rail, P90).

I am new to quitar wiring, so I created the attached schematic with some searching and help from to online forums to document what I am trying to do. My main concerns are as follows:
1) Is the P-Rail a good choice for this configuration
2) Will the P-Rails and Dimarzio Area pickups work well together. Should I be concerned about polarity and phasing.
3) Planning on 250K Vol and Tone pots with .022 cap.

Appreciate any feedback.

I have a Modern Player Tele Plus, and didn't like the HST pickup configuration at all. I'm not a fan of tele necks, and it doesn't make sense to have it with a strat middle IMO.

I decided to do my version of Seymour's TeleGib. I got rid of the terrible pots and knobs, bought a gloss black guard from Pickguard Heaven, and installed a C/59Hybrid and SM-1n mini. It has CTS 500K w/vintage dome knobs.

I may experiment further with bridge pickups, just to find something brighter and more open like a Filtertron or something.

Also....if you get a new pickguard, have the original traced because this pickguard is slightly off from the MIM/MIA ones.
