More sounds from the bargain bin....

Bullet Proof Toneologist
So I bought a ugly old Blue Voodoo today. I had a combo a couple years back that I really liked and saw a 60 watt head on the cheap today that I decided to snatch up. Most of the long timers here know I always chase down
other folks trash to make sound with. From my love of Squier guitars and 60s amp knockoffs I am all about tone in weird places. I plugged it in today ( the EQ points are weird) and remembered what I liked about them. It was enough to make me buy it. Not really a vintage treasure, but an amp I know I can get tone out of. Here is a quick and crappy clip through some Eminence 122 Alnico speakers I recorded tonight.

Nice tone ... opening was a bit bright for my tastes, but nice tone.

It's a shame Crate scrapped the 60w and them added a 300w (All tube they say) BV

Hmmm I bet the 300w has decent headroom ... don't know about overdriven tones

Re: More sounds from the bargain bin....

A bit on the bright side, but cool tone and playing!

Re: More sounds from the bargain bin....

The brightness is the one thing I want to tone down a bit. I am gonna have to have someone mess with some caps. It is close but a bit too shiny.

Re: More sounds from the bargain bin....

To me it has that Jackson 5 fuzz thing from their early stuff. Scruffy as hell, that is kinda what I want to do with it, to get some of those super fizzy 70s tones ( very cool for some studio ideas I have). Is it a main amp? not at all but it will be cool to goof with til I find some other trade to make with it.
