It seems like a lot of guitar companies slip under the radar. What's your favorite guitar company that you think should recieve more praise?

Keep in mind, this poll can ONLY have ten options. If your favorite isn't listed, just post your choice. Sorry for any omissions.

Re: Most under-rated guitar company

Schecter hands down.

Re: Most under-rated guitar company

I agree with DeadSkin... I've played some schecters (Primarily the 006 and the C-1 Elite) that were just absolutely amazing. Better feel than some guitars in the 1200+ price range I've played.

Re: Most under-rated guitar company

i'd say peavey just because i love the wolfgang.

however, its quite arguable that a lot of those brands are "under rated"

schecter guitars are quite nice though ;)

Re: Most under-rated guitar company

musicman for me, even if just for the axis. once you play one, you'll want one :)

Re: Most under-rated guitar company

i wish i could vote for hamers too, i'd seriously consider taking one of those over a PRS any day (PRS doesnt agree with me :P)

Re: Most under-rated guitar company

i vote for peavey when it comes to amps and samick when it comes to guitars. while samicks low end stuff may suck, their higher end models are amazing for the price. i highly recomend them, top of the line materials and great craftsmanship.

Re: Most under-rated guitar company

Schecter makes good affordable instruments, but I'd take a higher end guitar anyday...JMHO. The necks don't agree with me at all, I don't mind necks that are thin, but I can't stand necks that are thin width wise.

G&L makes great instruments. The build quality is great. I'm not gonna buy one, but I see why people like them.

There are so many brands out there that are wonderful that just don't get the credit they deserve: Don Grosh, Suhr, Tom Anderson, Empire, GMP, Brian Moore, Andreas, Parker. Odds are to the average player; they haven't heard of half of these guys... yet they make some of the most outstanding guitars EVER made.

Re: Most under-rated guitar company

I played a Hamer once, and it was one of the best guitars I ever played. It was an overseas built one, but it was sweet. Double cutaway, goldtop, p-90's......mmm I wonder who bought that one?

My Peavey tube amp is pretty sweet for the money too.

Re: Most under-rated guitar company

Steinberger! Ned's design is nearing 20 years old and it's STILL the state of the art. How sad is that?

Re: Most under-rated guitar company

Carvin! I own 2 and love them both! The mail order thing may scare alot away, but trust me they are some of the finest guitars made in my opinion! Top notch hardware and options galore, not to mention reasonable prices. Check them out, you won't be sorry.

Re: Most under-rated guitar company

I went with G&L, some beautiful guitars and yet from most website and magazines you would hardly know they exist.

you'd expect so for the price and all!

i'd also like to vote for gordon smith guitars. guitars they were supposed to be, instruments, not works of art (furnature)

not much more than an epiphone if you look about but boy it will whup an epi for sound/playability

hand made as well :)

(im biased i got one :))

Re: Most under-rated guitar company

I went with Epiphone. I know, some of the stuff is pure rubbish, but other stuff they make is sheer awsome-ness. If you play around and don't go super-cheap, you won't be sorry.

Re: Most under-rated guitar company

I made the mistake of voting Peavey, 'cause I like Peavey.

But thats not what the question asked. I would've voted G&L had I thought for a second.
I think they're the most under-rated.

Re: Most under-rated guitar company

Again, sorry I couldn't include every choice I had in mind. Steinberger, Carvin, Ibanez, Reverend, and many others are debatably under-rated.

I also agree that Epiphones are sort of hit-or-miss, but when you find one that works, its kind of amazing how much quality and tone you can get for so little money. I had an Epi LP Standard for a long time and it really surprised me that more people weren't giving that guitar it's due.... it was a really sweet axe.

I also want to try a G&L sometime soon. They probably won't overtake my fondness for Fender, but too many people like them for me to pass them up.

I'D say Peavey too... I would have voted Schecter 4 days ago but ever since i got my Peavey Wolfie i love this guitar, Just perfect..

Re: Most under-rated guitar company

Hamer ... best quality ... best second hand price.

Although I must admit, I love Fernandes Necks, and the Vortex, however new they are really over-priced
