Re: Moving on from Dimarzio and EMG??

From my Perspective, you search for an Unachievable combination.
Nice Mids, Tightness, Lot's of Beef.
Choose 2 of the 3. You can't have all of it. The reason is the Beef. The Beef comes with a Prize!
The BK Miracle Man is a very good example. I had it for some time and I loved the Lows, the Tightness, The response. Lovely. But, Where the Tightness begins, ends the the Lower Mids, which adds to the smoothness.
Blaze Custom for instance, was made with more mids, and therefore lacks tightness.
The FS will cover lots of bases, and if you Use the right amp, it will fill your needs. You might add a 10 band EQ in the mix for some extra beef. But the Response, clarity, and smooth Character stays.
Another Option would be BK Painkiller. Except being not the tightest, the clarity, mids and response is great.
Custom 8 is a good option, but get ready to have a slightly pingy character on a Basswood guitar.
Funny Enough, The Distortion 7 might be cool! It is producing very nice Lows, it is clear and cuts though like butter.
These are the ones I think of.
