Music Theory/scale Help!!!!

I NEED HELP!!!

I HAVE BEEN IN A RUT LATELY....ITS WHAT I GET FOR NOT PLAYING ENOUGH
:smack: :duh: WELL ANYWAYS YEARS AGO MY MOM THRU AWAY MY
DOUG MARKS METAL METHOD BOOKS AND ALL I HAVE LEFT IS THE VIDEOS.
IN THE METAL METHOD THEORY BOOK HE HAS A CHART THAT LISTED
EACH MODE OF THE MAJOR SCALE AND ITS USES, SUCH AS
IF YOU ARE PLAYING A 1-4-5 PROGRESSION WHAT MODES CAN/CAN'T
WORK...ECT....DOES ANYONE HAVE THE CHART OR DOES ANYONE HAVE
THIS MEMORIZED....ANY HELP WOULD BE GREAT....

Anything can work, if you open your mind!!!!

With a 1 4 5, the most obvious thing is the major scale of 1, as all the chords have notes that derive from that scale. Therefore any modes derived from the 1 scale will also work.

Things like the 1 mixolydian will work, but watch the b7th against the 5 natuarl 7th, they will clash.

Something like the blues scale will work also.

play the progretion on a loop and play all the notes you can over each chord, some will sound baaaaadd! some will make it soun spanish or oriental or happy or sad or wierd...etc.
considering that with most simple progretions almosts all (at least 7-8) notes will fit over it in diferent curcumstances...you can just make it up.
even if you only find 4 notes that fit well, you can still make a melody out of it.

as a generalisation theory is a mathmatical guideline that tells us what will sond good, but your ears can tell you this a lot more acuratly
