Re: MUSIKRAFT?? are they good or? They offer free ROLLED EDGES on their Necks!!

What is a rolled neck? Is it that crazy looking neck that looks like someone twisted it to hell?

I seriously have no clue.

Re: MUSIKRAFT?? are they good or? They offer free ROLLED EDGES on their Necks!!

Hand rolled edges like the one's that are standard on all american made
Fenders. It will give your neck a "broken in" feeling.

Re: MUSIKRAFT?? are they good or? They offer free ROLLED EDGES on their Necks!!

I hade bad luck with a Musikraft J-Bass neck a few years ago. But I got it from their ebay site for stupid cheap. So I Imagine it was a 2nd or worst.:smack: Consider this a bump for Xssive. I think he is very familar with their products.:D

Re: MUSIKRAFT?? are they good or? They offer free ROLLED EDGES on their Necks!!

I'm not crazy about their products or service.

--huh, not any good comments yet...not good.

-ANYONE ELSE???---------

Re: MUSIKRAFT?? are they good or? They offer free ROLLED EDGES on their Necks!!

yeah, i just got a neck from them.

its a one peice maple bannana neck. It looked good to me. A little below USACG workmanship but real good. i got it as a replacement to my Kramer 1984 reissue neck. Its much better than that i can safely say.

got it for 175$.

I must say that the maple seems harder to me than my USACG necks. SO i dont know how it will sound.

Other than that the workmanship is real good. Fender USA quality totally.
What i have noticed from getting necks from different places is the attention to detail.
The detail that wasnt as good in the Musikraft is the radius. I ordered a 12 radius and it starts on 12 at the 1st fret but at the 12th it is around a 15 radius. Fortunately for me that is a good thing actually for the floyd! LOL
so i dont need Floyd shims to get the action even lower.
ALso the sanding that is done by hand on the USAC's is near perfect. especially on the first one i got. The Musikraft is good to. just not perfect.

All that is details though. Saying that i would buy from Musikraft again. cause they are cheap and great.
Just got to see how it sounds. Although i cant see maple sounding too different from neck to neck. I do expect it to be a bit brighter cause the neck seems harder.
we will see.....

--That's a fairly good comment about Musikraft.

I havn't checked USAG?

Re: MUSIKRAFT?? are they good or? They offer free ROLLED EDGES on their Necks!!

I agree 100% with Tone? 's assessment. I bought a Musikraft neck- totally custom- 1 3/4" floyd rose nut, compound radius, stainless frets, one piece pau ferro, headstock adjust, etc.... The attention to detail on my Warmoth neck is high- the warmoth needed absolutely no work, whereas the Musikraft had a few sharp fret ends, floyd nut platform had to be further routed and was a little sloppy. Nothing that can't be fixed, and I guess for the money you save (the wood from Musikraft is higher quality, their prices are cheaper, more custom options), it's worth it. I'd buy from them again.

I haven't tried USACG, but they don't offer options I want.

Musikraft's customer service sucks or is non existent. You can rarely get someone on the phone. However, they do return phone calls if you leave a message, and if you're fortunate enough to talj to someone they're extremely helpful and suggestive

really man, you think the wood from them is higher quality then Warmoth??

how come?

the thing i didnt like too much from Musikraft is that they seem to outsource the customer service. Cause the guy i put my order to wasnt in the shop. BUT that DID NOT mean he wasnt super helpfull. So i give the customer service an A cause he was real helpfull. I guess i just would feel more comfortable having someone in shop.

That is how Tommy has it at USACG. And he is insanely helpfull. Actually sometimes i think too much and is pulling my leg. Im weird like that. Sometimes i prefer to have someone come out and say " Listen dude, what you need is blah blah blah, and what you are saying isnt true"

But stuff like that is tough. Business men rather put that responsibility in the customers hands. And i agree with them.

I got an ash strat body from them off eBay. It's a very nice piece. Service was good too. I emailed them on several occasions and got fast responses.

Re: MUSIKRAFT?? are they good or? They offer free ROLLED EDGES on their Necks!!

If you want an extremely figured birdseye or flamed maple neck, Musikraft is much cheaper than Warmoth. Their birdseye and flame maple is real nice, with Warmoth you'd have to pay a huge upcharge to get the same figure wood.

As far as stability, I have a Warmoth Pro neck, and it's built like a tank. I have to adjust my Musikraft neck more, but that may be because the Musikraft flame maple neck is oiled, and the Warmoth neck has a factory satin finish.

Warmoth pro necks have a double expanding trussrod so they are super stable. Does Musikraft?

EDIT: I checked their website. Looks like you can choose whichever trussrod you want.

Musikraft gives you any truss rod you want. One note- my flame maple Musikraft neck has a dual action truss rod, but is a one piece neck. Warmoth told me that the seperate fretboard (2 piece neck) creates a stronger neck since it's a laminate and the grain is opposing between the fretboard and neck.

Re: MUSIKRAFT?? are they good or? They offer free ROLLED EDGES on their Necks!!

I haven't had a Musikraft neck, but I will. I bought a body from them, and it is an amazing 2 piece ash masterpiece. Sounds incredible and the grain patter was out of this world.

I think Musikraft shines in a couple of areas. One is how many options they offer at no additional charge...more than any other maker. Two is the cost of premium woods vs other makers. Three is they finish the necks in nitro if you wish, which is a HUGE plus. They also roll the fingerboard edges, either medium or heavy.

I speced a premium flame maple neck, premium flame maple fingerboard, abalone face dots and side dots, jumbo wire, dual expanding truss rod, skunkstripe, asymetrical neck carve and heavily rolled fingerboard edges...finished in nitro for $400. You can't get that anywhere.

Musikraft makes enough necks and bodies that their quality has to be pretty good. They supply a lot of necks, including Fender necks. I can 't speak to their customer service because I've not had an issue. I ordered online, then sent me an e-mail telling me how long it would take, and the body showed up exactly when promised...and perfect.

Look at the prices at USAA and Warmoth. Perhaps for a standard wood neck with limited options these two might be a better deal, but for something special, Musikraft all the way.

I might also add that I am a HUGE Warmoth fan. I worked closely with them on the Forumcaster, and have ordered several things from them. Great company with great service. They are just plain too damn busy to do anything really custom, and price the premium wood for necks AND bodies too high...IMO.

Here's some pics of the body. Fabulous work, and this is finished in trans white by our own KMCGuitars.

Hey, sorry to resurrect an ancient thread, but can I ask how you found the Musikraft heavy-rolled fretboard edges? Musikraft keep saying they'll upload pics of the difference between semi-rolled and heavy, but they never do. I was thinking of getting one made with heavy-rolled (because I have small hands and play thumb-over) but am a little concerned about e-string slippage, and the side of the fretboard feeling bumpy.. how did you get on with it?

Re: MUSIKRAFT?? are they good or? They offer free ROLLED EDGES on their Necks!!

You're not going to get an answer from Jeff_H, he's not been around in maybe three or four years.

Re: MUSIKRAFT?? are they good or? They offer free ROLLED EDGES on their Necks!!

Is rolling a big deal, anyway? I always thought you can do it yourself very quickly with a nail file.

Re: MUSIKRAFT?? are they good or? They offer free ROLLED EDGES on their Necks!!

Musikraft is the best, hands down.
