mxr flanger vs mxr EVH flanger

Re: mxr flanger vs mxr EVH flanger

I had the MXR Micro back in the day and it was my bread & butter pedal. I later got the big MXR Flanger and didn't like it. The tone was great but the signal drop when engaged drove me crazy. I settled on the MOOG Flanger and all is good now.

I have the micro flanger as well, and it's definitely easy to dial up late 70s/early 80s rock tones.
To address the question of transparency: the unit is certainly transparent when bypassed but when engaged will make your tone VERY BRIGHT. I thought it was much too bright when used with alnico speakers. In a darker ceramic speaker (Eminence Wizard or Fane Crescendo in my case), it sounds brilliant.

I have a very good flanger: t rex twister 2
but the sound of the flanger is just too much on the distortion for my taste but I think it's normal because it's the same with the Micro Cube Roland

the evh flanger is not true bypass except the 35th anniversary model

Nope... Per Dunlop: "The EVH117 has always been Hardwire bypass. The only difference on the 35th Anniversary was the paintjob on the casting."
