My Axe Is Better Than Yours...

Re: My Axe Is Better Than Yours...

I honestly haven't played one that I have felt comfortable with (RR V, King V and Dinky styles. Bolt-on and set neck.) which sucks because I love the body shapes and finishes. :banghead:

Soloist?

Thick Dinky and thin Dinky?

Re: My Axe Is Better Than Yours...

If I accidentally picked a dorky 80's guitar like a black Jackson off the wall at GC, and someone snapped a picture of me doing so, I'd beat him to death, just so it wouldn't go public.

Then, I'd move over to the glass case that has the real guitars in it....and guess what, there's no Jacksons there! It's all Historic Gibson, Custom Shop Fender, and PRS. They left the Jacksons at the top row above the Ibanez and Schecter guitars, so the 14 year olds could gawk at it, but not get their broke grubby mitts on it! LOL

This is also why you won't see the Breedloves and Washburns mixed in with the Martins and Taylors.

J/K!!! Teh gearsnob in me jumped out like a troll! hahahaha

I think you were only HALF joking. :naughty:

I agree with you, though. Some things are just NOT meant to be mixed. :firedevil

*just 'cuz i've got a low quality camera phone doesn't mean the guitar's low quality:D*

Re: My Axe Is Better Than Yours...

JAckson Dinky, or 73 LP with double cream and a SD.....I don't think so.

I would get the 73 LP too then I would sell it buy 10 dinkies.

Btw, I believe it is USA Soloist SL2H in the photo. No way I will get a LP when I can get this.

But of course, this is an extremely subjective matter. I don't think there is something to be won. We all have different tastes. This what makes this place so colorful.

? Hot pickups that completely mask the guitar's natural tone?

Frankly, thats a GOOD thing on a maple neck through/alder wing body-I don't get along with the fundamental (lack of) tone in the design.

That said- the couple of USA as well as the MIJ Jacksons I've had were all stellar instruments.

Re: My Axe Is Better Than Yours...

One has to feel sorry for poor old Les Paul, being tied to Gibson when he obviously pined to play a Jackson.

This isn't the darkest comedy you've ever typed, of which I appreciate all of it, but I somehow feel compelled to sig it! :friday::friday:

Re: My Axe Is Better Than Yours...

Nope, never a Soloist and I'm gonna assume "thin" Dinky since it felt similar to the others. Thinner and wide.

The Soloist neck and the newer Dinkies are thicker than, say, a King V neck. They're more like a '60s Les Paul neck -- very comfortable, with some meat to them, but nothing like a baseball bat. Other Dinky necks, like my old DK2 Reverse, have pretty thin necks, more like an Ibanez Wizard.

There's plenty of tone in a Soloist. It's just not the kind of tone you get in a Les Paul, is all. I've never played anything that nails classic metal crunch the way a USA Soloist does. So until we standardize some sort of international uniform tone unit to quantify these things, it's probably best not to talk about this or that design lacking tone. Every guitar has tone; don't lose sight of how qualitative it all is.

No, you're absolutely right. Having a good guitar that you like means that everyone else's guitars are automatically crap. No way they could be any good.

Re: My Axe Is Better Than Yours...

So far the OP has failed to convince anyone of the inherent superiority of his SL2H over all other guitars.

Is there a moral here?
