My Axe Is Better Than Yours...

Re: My Axe Is Better Than Yours...

Sometimes I feel like a Mockingbird, but I also keep feeling like, "Am I just craving one 'cause Slash looked good with one?". lol

I also thought about Biches before. Couldn't find one that had features I could sell myself on though.

For the sake of an argument (and 'cause I love ya!)

yeah i disagree with the fundamental basis of this thread

You will change your mind upon your return. WON'T YOU?! :angryfire

that guitar was something i would wanna play before i learned everything that i know now about guitars. For the tones i go for, i could find a much better-suited instrument for a way lower price than anything produced by Jackson.

Of course you could. And while your post stings as much as would having empty pockets in this recession, I shall continue schooling you moreover. Hrrmph.

Slim strat-shaped body?

'k.

Hot pickups that completely mask the guitar's natural tone?

IMO, the axe itself holds it's own here, believe or not. Part of the reason why it's so "select" in Jackson's line perhaps. :usa1:

Floyd Rose?

You could actually upgrade this part of the equation if you felt it was particularly "tone robbing".

Pass pass pass pass pass

Your lax in morals disgust me.

I'll play..............

Nice spread. I usually don't care for the debauchery of Les Pauls, but this layout is...cute?

Um...yeah. : private:

Re: My Axe Is Better Than Yours...

If I accidentally picked a dorky 80's guitar like a black Jackson off the wall at GC, and someone snapped a picture of me doing so, I'd beat him to death, just so it wouldn't go public.

Then, I'd move over to the glass case that has the real guitars in it....and guess what, there's no Jacksons there! It's all Historic Gibson, Custom Shop Fender, and PRS. They left the Jacksons at the top row above the Ibanez and Schecter guitars, so the 14 year olds could gawk at it, but not get their broke grubby mitts on it! LOL

This is also why you won't see the Breedloves and Washburns mixed in with the Martins and Taylors.

J/K!!! Teh gearsnob in me jumped out like a troll! hahahaha

I thoroughly loved your post. It's ****ed up, but I can laugh too.

Good, because like Wah Wah with his bagging on Marshall stacks, I did it all tongue in cheek. I like all good pieces of gear.....that's the truth. One of my first good guitars was a San Dimas Charvel that would be worth a fortune today. And I'm looking forward to the SD interview with Grover Jackson too!

Re: My Axe Is Better Than Yours...

I'm glad the OP likes his guitar, but I'm not convinced I should swap.

Different beasts really. If you love the Jackson, you might very well dislike my Strat. In which case, you should keep yours, and I'll hang on to this one. Everyone wins!

Cheers........................................ wahwah

Great diplomatic post as always, sir. I salute you. :approve:

Re: My Axe Is Better Than Yours...

Lets put it this way then- it's a tone that inherently has little to offer other than a very "clean" (sterile) non colored platform for high gain pickups & amplifiers. It's not an issue with jackson in particular but ANY maple neck through/alder bodied guitar (carvin, some ESps, alot of BC Riches, etc) Low output pickups sound weak, tinny, and lifeless in them comparitively- EVEN in a great specimen with plenty of sustain and overtones (of which I've had two, one MIJ, one MIA). Metal guys pick them because they can go gain, effects, & output crazy without as much mud or a lack of clarity. And not to mention they play might speedily.

Tell 'em. :14:
