H8Red442, is the USA Kelly a thicker sounding guitar than other USA models? And what's it's neck like in comparison to other USA necks?
I've heard the USA King V's neck is perhaps the fastest of the bunch. Is this true? And what is it's sound like in comparison to the RR1 or other USA models?
Thanks. I've had my eye on pecisely the King V and Kelly models, but didn't quite know what they'd be like exactly. While you're particiapating and getting praise for your collection of axes, I thought I'd take the opportunity to pick your brain.

I always thought the Kelly was thicker sounding. I think the neck is probably closer to a Soloist neck, at least the SL2H. .
When I had the SL2H and the KE2, they all had JBs and Jazz combos. I hadn't really started dabbling in pickup swaps yet. So that may have contributed to the thickness of their sound.
The King V is the fastest I've played as far as Jackson goes. I love my King V. I've not played a USA RR1 only the KV2. I couldn't tell you how it compares.
Like with any guitar though, Jackson can be very hit or miss. I've owned four or five KV2s, a Korina, a natural flame and two trans black ones. The trans black one I have now is by far the best of the bunch. They all play the same that I can remember but the Korina sounded muddy, the first trans black V sounded like and ice pick on steel, the natural flame just sounded flubby. The KV2 I have now is perfect. From setup to sound, it's just great.

Good grief that's the truth.
At least with guitars, you can almost afford it. When you start doing this with professional-level wind instruments.... $$$$$!!!

This (as it is with guitars in general) is why I'll never buy a guitar on suckBay or in any other way that doesn't let me play it first. Some things are too personal to be treated like commodities; it's not a pedal or a Bloo-wray player.
By the way, have you ever run into any USA Jacksons where the strings weren't terribly centered over the neck?
