My Current Lineup

Hey guys, thought I would just share my current lineup of electrics to make myself feel good. :)

Agile 3000 Prestige in CSB -My numb 1 axe. I cannot believe I only paid $370 for this guitar. It is SUCH high quality and sounded so good out of the box. I really do not understand how they make these guitars this cheap. For all of the people that have not tried one of these LP clones you really do not know what you are missing. It without a doubt feels better than most of the studios I have played., and I have never seen an epiphone this good (although I haven't played an elitist). I also have yet to play an edwards, but I am willing to be that this thing would give it a run if not move in front. I upgraded the pickups to SD APH1s and although I love the APH1s, after doing the upgrade I realized that I probably didn't need to swap out the stock pickups at all. They sounded very close to SD 59s and really there was no reason for them to go. But now that I have the APH1s in I plan on just leaving them.

Jay Turser JT50 Custom - I bought this guitar as something cheap to mess around with. I was surprised at how good it feels for such a "cheap" guitar. Overall it felt much better than the epiphone SG copies I have played (although the stock pickups sucked). I swapped out the pickups and put in an EMG 81/85 set. I also put on gold humbucker rings that I actually got for a steal (paid $7 for these rings that are metal and sell for $50 from allparts). The guitar is an absolute metal machine with the EMGs and sounds like a monster when i thump palm mutes. I have a set of gold grovers on the way because the stock tuners suck, but after that I think the mods are done and it is a damn fine pimped out axe!

Squier Tele - I just got this one from Kac yesterday. It is a pimped out Squier Standard Telecaster with the Dave Mustaine livewire pickups. The thing is a beauty and I am just now getting used to the mustaine pickups. They don't roar quite like the EMGs but seem to have better tone for lead as you would expect. I can't wait to put this thing through the ringer!

Orlando Tele - SOLD :( My vintage tele copy that I have had for many years. Boxed up and ready to be shipped out this afternoon. Oh well, had to make some room.

That does it! Hopefully that will be the end up my lineup for a while...bank account cannot handle much more! :)

Re: My Current Lineup

I saw today where Agile FINALLY has some Les Pauls with the wide nut.

Now I would consider buying one. The narrower nut makes for cramped fretting conditions for me (open cords and whatnot). No doubt they are alot of bang for the buck. And yours is a beaut! :bigthumb:

How much did you end up selling the Tele for? and did you find any other info about it? I remember your previous thread.

Re: My Current Lineup

Thanks for the comments! I sold the tele for $225 shipped. Hated selling it, but it had to go and i needed the cash, especially after just buying Kac's tele. Someone from the tdpri tele forum msg me and had one almost identical to mine under the Kingston name. He was under the impression they were made in Japan in the 60s and 70s. Like mine he really liked his and thought it was a great gigging guitar.

Don't miss out on the agile...you won't be disappointed!

Re: My Current Lineup

Nice looking lineup. I especially like the look of that SG copy. Good proof that great gear doesn't have to cost an arm and a leg.

BTW, I'm looking at dual humbucker Jackson. I either want the EMG 81/85 set or the Mustain Livewires. How do they compare, since you own both?

Re: My Current Lineup

Sweet. I love the tele with the Mustaines and that flame bridge plate. Very cool.

Re: My Current Lineup

Jeff - the EMG set and Mustaines are such different pickups. They don't remotely sound the same. I feel like the EMG set is pure metal. There is nothing that can touch it when you are playing power cords on the 5th and 6th strings. However, when you get higher up on the fretboard with the other strings it begins to lose some of its power. It cannot quite cut through like you would expect it to. This is where the Mustaines take over. While the Mustaine set doesn't quite have the thump that the EMG set does, when you get into solo and lead work it really has the tone and power to cut through. So really it depends on what you are looking for. I LOVE the EMG set and whenever I play the mustaines for a while and then pickup up my SG I think to myself "damn this sounds really really good." But the same goes the other way around. I really like them both. I may be selling the Mustaine set though as I have found that I use my agile with the alnico 2 pros for almost all of my lead work and with my amp I can still get a great distorted tone with the A2P.

bigal - the squire neck is very solid. Aside from just looking good it plays very well and I can get great tone and sustain. It doesn't play quite as fast as my other two, but it is solid nonetheless.

Re: My Current Lineup

Nice review Joe. If you decide to get rid of the Mustains, give me a PM. I don't have any experience with EMG's, but the Mustains sound like a more all around pickup.

Re: My Current Lineup

I had that same Agile and your right, great guitar especially given the price. Mine had a few small finish flaws, but nothing that would stop me from buying another one.

Re: My Current Lineup

Sweet Line-up!! Enjoy those mustaines for me!!
I like the look of the JT50!

Rock On ~ Kac
