My first Duncans on their way

Just joined the community, gotta say thank you to everyone for all the awesome info. I’ve been lurking for a while but wanted to jump on and say hi! My Saturday night specials are in the mail and will be here tomorrow.

Dropping them in to my schecter s-1 elite. I haven’t been able to justify buying a new guitar and wanted to make some changes and upgrades from the Duncan design stock ceramics in there. I joined my first legit gigging band a few months back and we do mostly blues and classic rock. Needed something versatile and found a bevy of information and samples here. Can’t wait to drop the new pups in tomorrow!!

Cheers

Welcome to the forum!

Don't forget to post pics of them installed, and post your thoughts on them. They are a really great set!

Re: My first Duncans on their way

Fantastic choice! Never tried them myself, I have heard great things about them though!

Re: My first Duncans on their way

Congrats, I hope they're what you want. The Duncan Designed set is probably great too.

Re: My first Duncans on their way

Yes they are great! Unfortunately they are just a bit too compressed and hot for me. They sound excellent when the gain is really cranked up, which was perfect for when I was playing hard rock/metal stuff. I've had a hard time getting any tone I like out of them when cleaning them up a bit. Needed something more suitable for classic/blues.

The Duncan designed HB103 bridge was a good pickup. I have one and might sell it too... so if you're lookin ;)

Success!! I put the bridge on the neck at first by accident so took me a little longer but I flipped them and they sound so excellent, very happy with the Saturday night specials. Plus the cream matches the binding :)

Turns out the pickups that were in there were the HB102s which, after a little research,I found out were modeled after the hot rodded humbuckers.

Wow, that is one sweet guitar! Thanks for sharing!

Re: My first Duncans on their way

Very nice looking guitar and its great to hear you love the pickups. I think the SNS set is about the only remaining production pickups I want to order. I've tried about every vintage and mid output bucket set SD makes. The SNS set is really unique with the different wind strength and magnet choice. I also love the soundclip they have on the website.

Rock those babies out!
