My First try with DFHS

Re: My First try with DFHS

is far better than the one i´m using rigth now, it seems i´ll have to buy this anytime soon... ask jeff dune about this, he slays with this drumkit, sure he can show you something to improve this clip

very cool anyway, dude

Re: My First try with DFHS

Thanks for the listen War Head...I'm definately an amature with this program. I'm an old - old school guy who's used to playing instuments instead of computers....the learning curve on this stuff seems like it's straight up.

Re: My First try with DFHS

Definitely going to want to play with the snare velocities/left and right hits a bit more, as well as the overall panning/eq'ing of everything... sounds like you don't have the OH's or Ambient mics mixed in very high.

i think at this point we introduce black neon bob and mendel :laugh2:

Re: My First try with DFHS

Hey Jeff,

The snare velocities left/right hits...are you talking specifically about the way the snare fills seem to sound "programmed" or all the same velocity? As far as the overheads or Ambient mics, I haven't quite gotten that far.

Re: My First try with DFHS

Yes, that's what I'm talking about. Do you have the DFHS drum map to replace the GM Map? That gives you snare and tom left/right hits. If you don't have it, I'll e-mail it over to you, its a small file.

Here's a short drum clip I made using DFHS. I just started using it so forgive the fact that it seems a little heavy on the left side...I don't know why this is yet. Let me know what you think overall.

Thanks!

Scott

You should really rock out over the drums with guitar and bass to see how it sounds. They sound like they'd work fine, which means (to me) that with guitar and bass, the drums would really sound good. Sometimes "bad" drums can be be made very usable under a nice wall of strings. I say do up a quick song, chalk it up to the learning curve, and by the next song you'll know what to tweak.

Are we not tlaking about DrumkitfromHell samples or are these different?? I have the DKFH samples files and I import mine into PCDrummer pro but lately that has been giving me trouble.

Re: My First try with DFHS

We're talking about Drumkit From Hell Superior. You have the original version.

Re: My First try with DFHS

DankStar,

Yeah, I'm sure it will sound different with some other stuff over the top. I probably need to throw something over it like you said.

Jeff,

I'll check and see if the DFHS map is in the back of the manual, it seems I saw it but I haven't had a chance to get back into it yet....hopefully tonight.
I'll let you know.

Thanks guys.

Scott

Re: My First try with DFHS

Well in the back of the manual, it says which midi note triggers what hit... I have an actual .drm map for the Cubase/Nuendo drum editors that fills it all out for you.

Re: My First try with DFHS

AHHHH Superior, sorry my bad!

Sorry to hijack the thread here but what programs do you guys use for the regular DKFH?

Re: My First try with DFHS

Love to help you but I can't, I'm sure someone will be able to though.

Good luck!

Scott

Battery is the best.

Re: My First try with DFHS

Do you need to use a program like cubase or nuendo to use the drums or can they also be used stand alone to create drum tracks?

You're going to need a program that can run VST's and program midi tracks - like Nuendo, Cubase, Digital Performer, etc.
