my liking for the 2x12 hot rod deville!!

ive been going back on forth from the 10's to the 12 on the hrd.
i really like the sound of the 2x12. the cleans are amazing and the early overdrive mode gives me the indie type of crunch im looking at.

but.. ive also been interested in smoothing out that overdrive and making it a bit more crunchy.

i know theres the options of speaker change and biasing but im leading more towards tube change and a good distortion pedal.

what pedal do you guys think would add a boost to the overdrive??
and also ive seen people recommend better tubes than groove tubes. ive hear great things about the electroharmonix.

im interested in the voodoo lab or ibanez tube screamer. i need a littlle more for a punch and smoother overdrive sound. i dont need metallica distortion hehe

i play ina indie rock band


basicallly anyother options to keep in mind if get this amp. id like to try new tubes and try other pedals

there is no such thing as better than groove tubes, other than nos. gt doesnt make most of their tubes, the purchase them from the maker and test and rate them for which you pay an extra few bucks.
for a smoother tone try the chinese 6l6's, a 12at7 in v3 and either chinese 12ax7's or european ecc83's (jj/tesla) for the other preamp tubes. a tube screamer is cool but check out the voodoo labs sparkle drive, it lets you dial in some clean sound with the dirty.

I've heard great things about the Visual Sound Jekyll and Hyde distortion. Apparently it is two overdrives put into one; the Ibanez Tubescreamer and Marshall Gov'ner pedals.

The cleans on the 2-12 Deville are really good. The OD's sound best to me when they're set at a moderate gain that's just above the clean tone, not overly distorted.
I'd probably put Svetlana 6L6's and Sovtek 12AX7LPS tubes in it...or GT12AX7C's.
Don't skimp on the OD. Get a Banzai Coldfusion, Banzai Fireball, Fulltone FDII, Z.Vex,
Spina modded TS-9 or 808 etc....

Maybe change out one speaker, or both, for Celestion Vin30 or H-30
