a friend of mine has the exact same amp, i like it. its one of the few mesas that ive considered buying. his has a g12h speaker in it, much nicer than the v30 that was in there if ya ask me.
cool amp!!
jeremy,
yeah, the speaker might get replaced
the Black Shadow is rated at 90 watts ... that's too much for a 40 watt amp if you ask me
I have a spare Mojo version of the G12H around here, so maybe I'll try that

I need to go try one of those...I hear nothing but good things about them!
How about a small review once you get some time with it?
thanks, Christian

this thing was listed on Ebay, but it was driving distance, so I went down and took a look at it with my trusty strat, made an offer, and we made a deal.
I've since come home and played it with a tele, the strat again, and my Hamer Artist with Seths.
there are a few rough spots, and some unwanted distortion on certain notes, which makes me wonder about the speaker, so I might switch it out.
I always think I can do some simple tweaks with a tube amp to get it dialed in a little more to my liking, whether it's tube swapping or speaker switching or whatever.
when I was testing it out earlier, we did try it through an Avatar cab with a Heritage V 30, and I thought it sounded better, but didn't know if it was the cab or speaker.
anyway, I'm pretty happy ... I've been saying I'd like to get a small Class A amp, but a Matchless or 65 Amps is a little out of my budget for now.
I know the first time I looked at one of these, it was a head version, and that thing had beaucoup harmonics ... they just jumped out of that amp, and you could ride the notes and harmonic overtones forever. I fully expect this little combo to get really close.
thanks again, as always, for your kind comments and feedback!
