My name is Curly ....

Re: My name is Curly ....

so far, I've changed the tubes and speaker

I'm a little disappointed with the bottom end, but I haven't figured out if it's the speaker or cab. My homemade tweed Deluxe seems to have more bottom.

I'm thinking maybe the head and cab configuration is better for this amp, but I'll give it some more time.

thanks for asking :)

Re: My name is Curly ....

That would be my guess.

I had a 4x10 & a head running thru a 4x10 cab.....both sounded like heaven!

It's probably a personal preference, but just something about a 1x12 (or 1x10 ) just lacks for me.

Have you tried running it thru other cabs?

yup ... I tested it through a cab when I bought it, and I thought it had better bottom that way. I didn't care for the stock speaker - Mesa's version of a Classic Lead 80 ... sounded kinda "honky"

Re: My name is Curly ....

My 4x10 was open back with Jensens....the 4x10 cab I ran the head thru had 4 Celestion 10-35s & then I put 2 Jensens in an X pattern with 2 Celestions & it sounded fantastic:bigthumb:

Dunno buddy....sorry it doesn't seem to be working out for ya' :dunno:

Re: My name is Curly ....

Gary,

what speaker are you usin right now? It's kind of hard to get a good bottom out of a lot of 1x10 and 1x12 set ups...plus if memory serves me those 1x12 Blue Angels had a some what smallish cab...

Re: My name is Curly ....

Nice! I have not played though a Blue Angel, but I hear that the clean tone is superb. Very cool purchase my friend :) I'd like to hear your chops with that baby.

Re: My name is Curly ....

Sweet, Gary! I did some research a few years back on Mesa amps before I bought my Fender DRRI. Like Stevo, I came to the conclusion that the Blue Angel would've been my choice if I had went that route.
Keep us posted, 'bro.
