My name is Trevorus and I'm a Tele-holic

I just got the collection of tele shapes together, and I'm discovering that I really really like telecasters. Even if I were to get a strat again, the first thing I would do is to blank out the middle pickup. They're useless to me, for some reason. Anyways, anyone else love the Genesis of the modern electric guitar?

You may want to check out Teles by FGN/ Fujigen. They have a natural Tele Mike Stern style for about 600 dollars new, MIJ. It's the same factory that churns out Ibanezes and Fenders.

I am a Blackguard fiend.

The one on the left end is a Fujigen built mid eighties Fender. It's fantastic.

Check out the Vintage Modified series (the ones made in India). They're inexpensive and a lot of fun to customize.

I had one. I modded the snot out of it. Callaham bridge (now on the black tele), Duncan Broadcaster set, trim lock tuners, all new electronics. I ended up trading it (after taking off the bridge and pickup, and switching it to a regular vintage style) straight up for a Gibson SGJ with the ETune system. It was a great guitar, but I couldn't pass up that upgrade.

Re: My name is Trevorus and I'm a Tele-holic

Tele's are alright in my book. But Esquires...an Esquire is where it's at for me when it comes to single cut Fenders.

Re: My name is Trevorus and I'm a Tele-holic

Guys, Trevorus is here for help. This thread is like going to an AA meeting only to have everyone say "oh, you're a whiskey drinker? You should try XXX bourbon".

Re: My name is Trevorus and I'm a Tele-holic

well, given youare in a stones tribute band, I would think you may have a tele or two... haha

Nice set of triplets Trev!!

I never liked teles. The look, the fact I always associated them with country. But I noticed alot of ground being covered by em.. Got one and its a versatile beast.

One can never have too many Telecasters. In fact, you sound like a guy who needs another Telecaster...

Re: My name is Trevorus and I'm a Tele-holic

Lord, grant us the serenity to appreciate the Telecaster we cannot afford,
The wisdom to play the ones we have,
And the money to buy more of them.

One axe at time.

;D

Re: My name is Trevorus and I'm a Tele-holic

Ive only got one tele (currently). I keep thinking about other teles that might have this or that....like a bigsby, or a neck humbucker or a strat pickup in the neck, or a b bender etc. But then i think, i would not like to lose a single thing about what my tele offers, so for me one axe will do.

Re: My name is Trevorus and I'm a Tele-holic

Need to get a rocker. Something with a Hot Rails or like Jolly's Charvel Barney Caster and dual buckers

Re: My name is Trevorus and I'm a Tele-holic

After 18 years of playing, I finally have one. It's a Squier affinity, but I got one. I can't wait to get more.

Re: My name is Trevorus and I'm a Tele-holic

Keith Richards said Telecaster is a man's guitar. I think he nailed it with that one.

Re: My name is Trevorus and I'm a Tele-holic

G&L Tribute? My dad has one (exact same model, arch-top, bound etc. but with stock pickups), visited this weekend and spent most of the time playing it :) G&Ls are amazing. I actually like the stock pickups, pretty tight with tons of mids and clarity.

As far as middle pickups, I've only now started using them on my Strat style guitars, takes a bit of technique shift to not smash them with a pick... Up till a couple days ago they were all cranked down near below the pickguard. Telecaster tone in general just seems so much stronger and more alert vs. a Strat anyway; I've just tended to gravitate toward guitars with trems.

I have a mutt Mexican Telecaster that was cut into and made into something not resembling a Telecaster at all, and I never owned a "real" one somehow. If there's a rack of guitars in a store and I need to try out amps or something, 90% of the time I'll go to a Telecaster first. So just bought my first, '94 MIM Fender branded Squier Series... I really do love this guitar, def. a unique sound among my collection, might even keep it.
